Hi All long hait lovers ... I am one of those guys who finally found the value add of long hairs on my head ... I need your help to take it longer.
I started off with a clean shave head and then had couple of trims at my sides at 3, 5 month. This is my 8th month and I can see the hairs in front cover my forehead and at the back are long enough to get slightly behind my collar. All these days I washed my hair daily with Garnier Fructis long and strong and its been good to me. Further since I was suffering hairloss at my temple region I use Propecia every day which is helping to control hair loss.
===================================================================
Now coming to the point what is the frequency at which I should get my hair trimmed?
Now, I wash my hair on alternative days. i comb it when its slightly wet after towel drying ... no much rubbing though. The issue is that it gets very very very dry and when I comb again later in day ... it breaks. I cant use a moisturizing shampoo as by night it would be very very very oily as i sweat a lot. This means that on the day of bath till night its very dry and the next day its too oily. How do I control it? Looks like my sebacious glands are too active. Please help me out. Have any of you suffered this problem? Should I use gels etc.,?
I know that each person reponds well to a different product but what is it that I have to use (like gels, shampoos) and what is it that I have to surely stay away?
Thanks,
Srini.
Growing hair brings some problems during the awkward stage although you can manage these by brushing etc.
However the only path to long hair is to throw away all scissors, razors and clippers... It can be hard BUT the long term reward is huge.
I missed out one query in my last post ... can i wear a cap during this phase ... I mean is it damaging to my hair or OK ... infact if I wear a cap i can go without a head bath for more than 2 days ... this would also help build up of my natural oils on hair.
Thanks for your reply.

Cant say much about trims, never got any myself. But as for the dryness from which you are plagued, have you tried Jojoba oil? it has worked wonders for members on this board. You can get some at a local herb shop or online if you wish.
I had read about jojoba oil but never heard its good to keep out dryness ... I have been looking for a good oil to keep my hair moist ... I will surely give it a try ... thanks a lot.

Don't even consider it for at least 2 years or longer.
Perhaps try combing it when dry. When wet, you hair is in the most danger of harm being done to it.
Try Shampoo 1st and follow-up with a moisturizer. Shampoos that claim to do both are worthless. Sounds as if you may be combing too fast and hard when wet? Hair HAS to be treated very gently for most.
This is a tough one that only you can figure-out by trial and error. Everyones hair responds differently, hence one has to "experiment" over and over. Eventually you WILL find what works for you the best. :-)
Good luck to you. Don't give-up. There IS a solution out there for your particular hair needs. Even in my 4th year I am still making discoveries.
Hey thanks a lot for your help. I will surely take care of my hair ... something like silk ? :))
