I was wandering around a big shopping centre here the other night (shops are open till 9pm on Thursdays) and was surprised at just how many longhairs I was seeing. Many of them looked to have 12-18 months growth. I'm 35 years old and I didn't see many if any longhairs around my age or more, but lots of teens and early 20s.
So it's obviously become very popular recently. I wonder if, for example, the video clip for "Forever Young" by Youth Group has anything to do with it. That's the one with all the old late 70s footage of young guys with long/medium length hair on their skateboards. Perhaps it's just the usual cycle of fashion.

And along with that long hair khakis are now very popular in the
wake of the death of Steve Erwin (The crockodile hunter).
yea definately true here...surfer culture has always been associated with that style of hair to me...
Anyplace where longhair is very common is refreshing to me. Most of my best mates have long to very long hair and it seems to be very common where I live in Southampton in England as well. Hopefully this is the start of a long term trend.
