Hi everybody,
I'm finally de-lurking. I just wanted to say how thrilled I was to
find this site, and how grateful I am to everybody for their wonderful
posts!
In a recent thread, somebody was talking about how they got started
doing their hair. I think the first glimmer of interest for me may
have been watching a Jetsons episode -- I don't remember whether this
was the 60s or 80s version (I won't date myself any further ;*).
Anyway, in this episode, the automatic equipment in the Jetson's house
goes haywire, and when George gets under the grooming machine, he gets ...
an enormous blonde updo with strands of pearls! I was intrigued, and
for years, I secretly wanted a machine like that at MY house! Does
anyone else remember seeing this?
Anyway, thanks everybody -- you'll be hearing more from me.
Love -- Morgaine
Not George, but his wife and daughter, yes. I especially remember one in which his wife uses the machine, and she can't decide which style to stick with. After switching through a dozen or so styles, she settles on one she likes. It just happens to be the style she started out with.
Today I noticed an interesting thing on the Flintstones. Partway through the episode, we were at the Flintstone's house, and Wilma was brushing out her hair. I had never seen her with her long hair down before. The funny thing was, although the hair was down on each side, she still had her hair in a bun.
I have a similar memory when I was very young except it was on scooby-doo. Shaggy went through a machine and when he came out his short hair was tranformed into a long ponytail.
YES! I remember that particular episode.....and I saw it in the 60's (when I was a teeny-weeny young boy). Because I remember it so well, it must have made an impression.
Don
I remember the episode also, must have been 30 years ago, but I remember that it was caused by George pressing the wrong button, I think there were two buttons labeled "his" and "hers". He got Jane's blonde hairdo. Sounds like a fun machine. Would also save a lot of time.
