Just wanted to share a laugh I had today. I went in to set up an account with one of my suppliers here in New Orleans (I'm a General Contractor); the young lady that sat up front went into the back and I overheard her say "There's a guy out front with long hair that wants to see you".
My first "longhair experience". Only 10 months into the journey and already stereotyped. Isn't it wonderful!
Should really be fun at the family reunion this weekend!
Big George
I hope it doesn't cost you any clients due to the "stereotype"!
Well I guess everything worthwhile does have its costs but I hope they are not many.
Have fun being unique at your reunion :)
If I had a (NT) dollar everytime I get called a "lady" at a traditional market (which in case anyone doesn't notice, is full of traditional people) I'd buy the whole market...

And so now it begins! And so from now on you will be hearing this more frequently.
Enjoy your family reunion and let us know what kind of comments you get!!!
Sounds great, George! Isn't it a neat feeling? :)

Dear Big Geroge,
I am delighted by the experience you had at the bank, however about a month ago I make my first photo appearach in the group, and lambasted me about my political views. I am a long hair but I am not a unidimensional person. You attacked me for positions I do not hold, which left me with the view that you are historically and politically totally uninformed about what is going on in our country.
There was no way to introduce myself to the group without expressint the multidimensionality of my self. I realize that to some extent I politicized the discussion, but it is my impression that most long haired me are dedicated to freedom, truth, justice, knowledge, openmindedness and open minds.
Rather you chose to atttack me and put words in my mouth which I do not believe.
I am very sad that 35000 Americans lost their lives in a foolish, evil, attack on our country, but I am equally aware that our leadership has led attacks on other countries including the present one which hsvr produced far more deaths of innocent men, women, and childen than those lost in the world trade center.
Perhaps it will interest you that as a Red Cross volunteer I spent two weeks at the Pentagon, and with an enforced leave, two moe weeks in NYC working with the victims of those attacks, including the first three days working the the staff and passangers of the UAL flight that slammned into the Pentagon.
I have attempted to send this as a private response, but I am not sure it will get to you individually and may go out to the group. That is not my intent, but from the structure of the site I cannot be sure.
There was no way I could introduce me to the site without some expression of the complexity of who I am. and the issues, and if the monitors wish to ban me from the site that is entirely OK with me.
But be clear, if you knew what was going on you would not be so arrogant about your political point of view, and you might realize that our present leadership is endeavoring to misinforming the public, scare us, and endeavor to continue their leadership which I am confident will lead to the downfall of the country I love and wish to protect.
Bottom line, I hope you hair grows, but politically you are misinformed and do no seem open to information.

Please e-mail me at: cajunbiggeorge@yahoo.com and I will respond. I would like to discuss this; just not in this open forum about a different subject.
George
I will try to respond without getting into a political discussion here.
I responded to what you posted. My views differ from yours. That doesn't make me totally uninformed because I disagree with you.
I agree. But I again find it ironic that you talk about openmindedness and open minds, yet call me arrogant, misinformed, and closed minded when my opinion differs from yours.
I responded directly to what you posted, which I disagreed with
How do you determine who is innocent and who is not? And how do you determine that number?
I commend you and offer you my gratitude and respect for doing so.
We can discuss political opinions privately; I have given you my e-mail to do so.
I am sure there are many mulitcomplex personalities who regularly visit this site. And just as many differing opinions. My comment about both politics and religion (which I have firm opinions about both) is that these subjects are best left for other forums so as to not detract from the subject here. I have seen other boards get off topic and opinionated, and many people quit posting. I would like to avoid that here.
You have never met me, never spoken to me, have no idea what my connections are, etc., yet because my views differ from yours you "stereotype" me as in the two paragraphs above. Mirriam Webster defines arrogance as "an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions". Is that not what you have done by stating your political views, making the assumption that they are correct, and demeaning those who disagree?
If you will recall, I made an additional post pointedly stating that you are welcome here even though our views differ. However strong you feel about your beliefs, I feel just as strong about mine, and when my core beliefs are attacked on an open forum I will respond.
If you do want to discuss the political side of this, e-mail me privately and we can do so without involving this board in the process.
Well said, Big George!
As you know, I am what can be called, "a typical liberal", --- politically, a very "left"-leaning Democrat. But that doesn't make those who disagree with me, "totally uninformed" (much as i WISH i could legitimately accuse them of such - lol!!)...
I saw an outrageous bumper sticker on a large, shiny-new pickup truck the other day. It read: "Annoy a liberal, --- work hard, and be happy!" At first, I have to confess that it totally offended & irrated me. But then for some reason, I suddenly burst out laughing, --- realizing that whoever wrote the wording on the sticker, as well as the truck owner, probably got the same charge out of the many anti-Bush bumper stickers I've seen and loved.
Much as I don't want to have to get along with Republicans in this world, my own mother is one (even though I've tried to help her "see the light" many times over)... and I applaud you and support you in your defense of openly being the person you are, --- Republican and all!
The one thing in common that all longhairs have is NOT actually any political similarities (although liberalism is more common than conservatism in this crowd); but the fact that longhairs tend to be more fearless about speaking their minds than most people. Congrats on becomng a full-fledged longhair, Big George, --- you've passed the test with flying colors!!

But subconciously you know better. In your avatar picture you are leaning very far to the right!!!
