Hey guys!
I decided that I can't wait for the trim anymore. The more I wait, the more I get scared of it. So tomorrow morning I'm gonna se my hairdresser and most likely be trimming my hair in the afternoon.
I've just checked in the bathroom and... well I'm closer to waist lenght than I tought =) One year and 3 months are what's left till there =) I don't mind turning it to a year and a half bu trimming my hair, I know it will be much better after that.
Now my hair is basically divided in two layers. I tought that the upper layer hadn't had any splits but it has. The two layers are not V shaped, they are straight across =) I am planning on taking 2 cm off of the lower section (2 cm is less than 1 inch, I will regain them in a little more than 1 month)...
BUT... I don0t know what to do about the upper layer. The upper layer includes my bangs. If I leave it there untrimmed it can get worst...
SOOOOO... do you think I should trim like a cm off or leave it there untill it catches up with the bottom layer? I'm also asking this to my hairdreser. I think it's time for me to start geting my ends shapped and healthy =) Believe me, they are not healthy, despite hte rest of my hair being really healthy. I want soft ends =) I don't mind loosing a little at all now that i've been thinking a lot about that. After all, I am a long hair already =) And trims are definitly good for hair =)
My doubt is... trim or not to trim the upper layer ????
Now don't worry, I'll ask the hairdresser what I really want, I'm even going to make a drawing for her to see =) And I trust her really =)
Thank's for reading, hope to hear opinions...
See ya =)
It will help you understang what I said =P
Thank you =) - http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-3/1154927/HELP.jpg
Hey I just saw your post with pictures afew days ago and thnk you have fantastic hair, I just wanted to ask I know you illustrated in 1 of the pictures your shed in the shower, do you lose much on ur bed pillow ? I only ask cause I seem to shed 10/20 hairs while i sleep and wondered if it was normal.
Anyway congrats with the hair may it 'long' continue ;-)
Hi João--
If the upper layer does have some split ends or breakage, it's probably best to get it snipped, even if it's just a centimeter. With your length at this point, you probably won't miss it much, especially if it means having softer and healthier hair.
The first time I tried growing my hair out, I had the split ends cut and it helped dramatically.
Just my thoughts. =)

Hi Joao
As long as you trust the hairdresser and know how she operates I myself wouldn't be a bit worried. You are now at a point where you have some "hair to spare" anyway and have grown it out to such. She will know just what to do and I feel sure all will go fine. Good luck to you
Justin~
ps: I hestitated so much about that trim I got 4 weeks ago. But in the end it turned-out for the better and I'm happy I had it done.
... and be thankful you've got a hairdresser you trust- I've been short-cut by so many that I suspect that hairdressing schools use a different ruler from the rest of us.
I know it hurts to lose any amount of length, but if the result is healthier, non-split-ended hair, do it.
P.S. She may be able to blend those two layers together into a harmonious whole.
Let us know how it comes out.
best of luck
