Guys, Im so freakin pumped, I have my surgical consult next Wednesday to put my corners back. Im hoping to get out of there around 3 grand and have my entire hairline replaced and perfected. Been growing out now about a year or so (you guys all seem to know the exact date you said SCREW IT IM LETTING IT GO) but I just sort of stopped going to the hair salon, trimmed it once or twice by myself and then well just stopped all together. Now my bangs are in my mouth and the back is about an inch or so below my collar line. But Since for some reason when I look around at just "People" in general on a daily basis, I want more of the female straight hairstyle rather than than the male straight hairstyle, I used to have this way way way back in the mid 90's and well after 9 years or so of the short "conforming to normal standards" I said F it, and im reverting back.
My main problem is the damn corners are gone in the front so time to get em put back. I have heard it takes about 3 months for them to start producing hair again and well thats it, Just time to allow them to produce hair. Just have to blend it in as best as I can and make due for a while. Im upset at the thought I might have to cut my hair short one last time to get those corners to sort of grow out with the rest of my hair but that is a possibility. Guys that have gone through the replacement thing, what did you do? Keep your long hair and let the new stuff grow in and catch up and trim until it got there or did you just cut it all and grow it all back in again? I dont want to look like a fool with a buzz cut in the front corners and my "widows peak" have 5-6 inches of hair straight down over my nose to my mouth ya know?
Any ideas?
Oh this site ROCKS by the way!
J
hey how would i get this "corners" thing? i have the widows peak also and want that hair to regrow, where would i go to get this and about what price range? thanks.. as far as an opinion whether or not you should cut or just let it grow... i would let it grow until it starts looking dumb, then cut it, if it doesnt look weird, then you're set and keep growin, k thanks ;)
Yeah, I have a natural "widows peak" (I'm only 20, so I'm not balding) and I don't really like it... bleah...
Thats a fantastic idea, grow until it looks dumb. Since they are relocating the hair folicles from the back of my head to the front I am 99% sure it will grow as the folicle always has. so im average so 1/2 inch a month is what I would expect. They do say however it takes about 3 months for it to start producing hair but thats okay, have had this widows peak for 10+ years so screw it, what is 3 months.
As far as price is concerned, its around 3-4 dollars per graft, so I dont know how many Ill be needing but im just guessing 1000 but not sure just yet. The place im going to all the people in my office are going to and they are giving us a break I think since the amount of business is pretty extreme now. So IM NEXT on the block. I might even get it DONE next week. Might push my consult up to Monday and see if I can schedule it for some time next week. Have a wedding I am in the first week of October so if thats it, I have about 2-3 weeks for it to heal and not be really seen so that should be good. I want some MAJOR density up front so I might even go for more than 1000 but Ill see what they say. Oh and AXL ROSE by end of next year!!!!!
If any one is interested its www.mhrusa.com and they do have offices all over the US. They even pay you if you travel to see them. Hows THAT for pretty cool!
Like I said I want more of a rounded hairline not corners or more associated with a typical female hairline not boxy 90 degree sharp corners so maybe Ill even up it to 1500 so 750 each side of the peak! When I talk to these guys in my consult Ill give a detailed report here for people that might want to know more about it. Also im sure it hurts but ya know what, any amount of pain is worth looking at yourself in the mirror and loving what is looking back at you. I know with me anyway the hair line I have been given really bothers me to the 90'th degree. I hate it. Everyone tells me its not bad at all but you know what, They have not seen me with anything else so they dont know. Im doing this for ME! AND I CANT FREAKIN WAIT! Im practically jumping out of my shorts over this!
Should have done this 3-8 years ago LOL

I have EXTENSIVE experience with har transplantation.
PROCEDE WITH GREAT CAUTION.
It can be the best or worst thing you could do to your head.
Check out...
hairsite.com and the HT forums there.
DO NOT GO TO BOSLEY!!!!!!!!
Many lawsuits, too expensive and many poor results.
There are options to strip surgery.
Search out FUE if you haven't already.
Which doc are you going to??
Be careful and peace.
No not going to bosley im going to Medical Hair Restoration or www.mhrusa.com I am going to see Dr Leavitt the founder and owner of the practice. I am just guessing that FUE is not for me since Ill need more than 500-600 grafts but I dont know that for sure until I speak to the Doctor. My main question is this if you have experience you can probably tell me, about how many hairs or Follicular units are naturally in say one square inch? If I can figure out how many square inches I need "filled in" lets say I can figure out how many follicles I need transplanted and can come up with an approximate cost. As well how long does it take for those little red dots to disappear? Like I mentioned earlier I have a Wedding in the beginning of October and if I can get it done prior to that I will IF and ONLY IF the red dots will be gone by then. If not Ill wait until right after it and get it done so hopefully by end of October Ill be all healed up. I was told about a week and a half for those dots to sort of scab over and then another day or so then the scabs start falling off and take about another 3-4 days to sort of go away. Have you experienced this or no?
Thanks for any reply

"Not not going to bosley im going to Medical Hair Restoration or www.mhrusa.com"
Please reconsider. How many docs have you met with?
How many patients have you examined in person?
There are only a few TOP strip clinics, IMHO.
Please go to Hairsite.com and hear some of our stories;
good, bad and ugly. You can search out some of their patients there. I amVERY happy with my HT, many are not.
For strip, have you considered Hasson and Wong?
http://www.hassonandwong.com/
Not my doctors but a VERY TOP strip clinic with excellent prices. Everyone in the "web hairloss comminuty" seems to agree that they do the BEST strip. I've seen some great results from them. My current doc doesn't do strip. But yes, if you are going for over 1000 graphs, I'd do strip too.
"I am going to see Dr Leavitt the founder and owner of the practice. I am just guessing that FUE is not for me since Ill need more than 500-600 grafts but I dont know that for sure until I speak to the Doctor."
NO STRIP FOR 500-600. Your instincts are right on.
"My main question is this if you have experience you can probably tell me, about how many hairs or Follicular units are naturally in say one square inch? "
Varies from person to person. This link will get you started:

"If I can figure out how many square inches I need "filled in" lets say I can figure out how many follicles I need transplanted and can come up with an approximate cost."
This is what a good doc will go over with you.
What is your hair like? Straight, thin, wavy, curly?
This all depends. Curly hair needs much less numbers.
Be prepared to spend around 5-7 dollars per graft.
"As well how long does it take for those little red dots to disappear? "
Healing also varies from person to person. I'd say a MONTH to be safe. When I had recent hairline work done, I combed some hair forward for a while. After three weeks, no sign of any procedure.
They LAST thing you want to do is RUSH the healing process and start picking or nudging grafts loose in a hurry.

Wait until after the wedding. Definitely.
You will not be able to relax, dance, etc. without worrying.
If you would like to see my HT pics or research my doc, just say the word. He is in Redondo Beach, CA.
I would be very interested to see your results.
Many of us have posted extensively on hairsite.com with pictures and videos on our "hair journey". They are a very supportive group of guys who have had great, good and horrific experiences at "hair loss clinics".
Please wait until after the wedding.
What city are you in?
Have you met with many folks who have had hair work done?
Peace.
Also,
Please don't let geography dictate where you have your procedure.
Some top clinics will pay for your travel.
If they won't, the money spent on travel will be FAR less that the REPAIR work needed to FIX poor work. Not saying MHR can't do good work but IMO there are better clinics out there.
Are you on meds for hairloss?
How much more hairloss is coming your way?
Family history?
Why would you think that you will only loose hair "in the corners"?
Be prepared to chase your hairloss for many years, even with meds.
I have "kept up with" my hairloss over 18 years with multiple procedures and am VERY lucky to be in as good shape as I am. I've had 15 procedures over the years.
Can't shave my head because of the strip scar(s). No biggie for me but I like my hair long. Could have some FUE put in the scar(s) but this is new technology and usually expensive. Are you prepared not to shave your head without seeing a scar(s)?
Just my 2 cents and trying to help.
Since I'm rambling here are some other thoughts:
- Meet with three top doctors or clinics. Insist to meet with the doctor who will perform your procedure. Not the rep but the doc as well.
- Hoping you know that very short hair is difficult with strip but then again this is the long hair forum. For me, 1 inch is about as short as I'd go. I have seen more current patients who can buzz down to a #2 with minimal scar detection though.
- Meet patients with similar hair characteristics as your own... at least three. Pictures aren't the same. Please believe this.
- If a doc says something that sounds too good to be true... it is.
- After rereading my post, strip prices have some down, maybe $4.00 per graft.
Less in India's top clinic. No kidding. Don't go for the bargain alone though, obviously.
- A HT will not be exactly the same as your natural hair in texture, density or angle. Very close with the right doc but not the same. The "illusion" of density is real. The right type of donor hair at the right angle in correct follicular groupings can produce a pretty awesome result. Make sure only ONE hair grafts are used in the hairline. Duh. But some docs STILL don't even do that right.
Can you post some pics?
I think I can be more helpful if I can see what's up.
Best.
Okay I have straight hair with a small wave to it, and I want it LONG, Basically I want to look like a girl, I dont want my hair buzzed, shaved, dont care about scars under my hair cause it will NEVER be short ever. I have met and read alot on this subject and this Dr is good. Im in Boca Raton (Plastic surgery capital of the world) and I was referred to the owner/founder cause he does the best hair line work out of the 30 surgeons he has working in the practice all over the country. Im paying 4.50 a graft and Ill have about 4000 hairs transplanted or about 1600- or so grafts done. Scheduled for Monday and the work he has done is pretty good. We spoke about my expectations and basically I told him flat out no beating around the bush, I want a chick's hairline PERIOD. If you cant round the corners Im not interested. If you want me to look like Herman Munster with square 90 Degree corners no thanks, I want those corners not to look like an industrial carpenters square was used to make my hairline. Since I LOVE having my hair in my face and having a chick haircut all the time bangs and things of that sort is what I am shooting for so most of the work Ill be having done will be in my face anyway covering up what they are transplanting. My hair is basically straight with a small wave to it nothing really bad.
Scars, of no concern
Since my hair will never be short, the hairline will be covered up mostly so that is a smaller concern but important.
Way Im looking at this, If I have the hair there and it grows out at bare minimum 8 inches, I can comb it and spray it however I like regardless of the direction they insert the FU in my scalp. Its the guys that have 3/4 inch long hair that are really going to have a problem with this.
J
IMO, and I've "been there done that", you are making a mistake if you don't meet with three docs and many patients.
BTW, here in Beverly Hills (another plastic surgery capitol of the world) there have been MANY butchered patients and many happy ones.
Good luck.
Hope everything works out for you.
It's your melon.
Peace.
P.S. This doc does very agressive, rounded hairlines VERY WELL.
Please check him out too.

I hope this goes well with you, and look forward to your reports, but keep in mind that all hair grows slowly. If you are having a major shift in your hair line, I think you may need to wear a cap for quite a while, or some sort of cover.
Whatever, best wishes.
