I started this Summer to grow my hair out. I would like to grow my hair so it is at least a decent pony tail. I have never had long hair. I do not even know how long it will take to grow out. I just found this site today.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me growing a pony tail? I would appreciate knowing anyone else's experiences.
Well, don't cut it, and expect a year or so before you can tie it back comfortably.
Id say about 15 to 18 months at least
My hair is to my chest. It took me about 14 months from a shaved head before I could tie it back. And just barely. 18 months is more like it when you can get a good tail.
I have been growing my hair since November 2003.
My 3 year mark and no pictures since last year.
Don't have a digital camera.
Ah, I'm on the 1 year mark and most of it except the bangs tie back. I guess it depends, then.
I appreciate your post. I think you are right about 1 1/2 years to have a decent pony tail. I will not get a haircut since I really want long hair. I guess you have gone through this phase of your hair into your eyes and face without much problems.
Thanks for the comment. I have not had a haircut since last Spring and i am anxious for my hair to grow longer. I am hoping it will fit into a pony tail next Summer
First time? Be patient, don't give up. It's gonna be very rough if you're new to long hair. But I'll tell you this much, it's gonna be worth it, pony tails are great.
You should check out those FAQS on how to grow longhair by Bill, I think? Anyways, it's on the site, just look for the link, and it's EXTREMELY useful. Man is on point. Good luck.
Until it's long enough (got a Snickers? :p), wear a ball cap while you're out (like at work), especially if you do alot of physical activity. I usually wet my hair, slick it back, and put one on before I go to work. Your hair will get in your face and bug the hell out of you if you don't. I have really straight hair, though. Dunno what it's like for curlys.
Thanks for replying. I have straight hair too. My hair seems to get in my eyes often but despite that I am getting to really like longer hair. Seems like I have to go through this bang phase until it gets long enough to pull back.
