Riding a bicycle is safer for longhairs. I kid you not. Read the linked article for the analysis.
Nice article. I wonder what drivers would do if the cyclist has long hair and a helmet!? ;)
BTW... great site!

This is likely true, unless you have a problem with sitting on it. Trying to turn my head with my hair sandwiched between me and my bike seat can be dangerous and distracting. To remedy the situation I now fold the last foot of it and secure it with a mini spring clip. Since I solved that problem, my hair has gained about 3 more inches of length.

You could use an onion do. For those of you not familiar with my onion do, here's a description of how to do it (it won't work for you "short" longhairs out there).
* Tie your hair into a pony tail, but don't snug the pony tail holder right up to your scalp. You'll need the play for the next step.
* Flow the hair over the ponytail holder. Imagine your hair is water, flowing straight up from your scalp through the pony tail holder. As it emerges through the holder, it flows over it.
* Secure the hair over the first holder with another holder. Now your hair is even with the scalp again and spreading in all directions from the center of the holders.
* Gather the hair again into a pony tail, securing with another holder. You've just completed your first onion.
Repeat these steps to make more onions, as many as you like. If you use up your whole hair, the final pony tail will be a third to a half the length of the unimpeded hair, assuming your hair is straight.

Haha! I thought he meant a longhair.
...for growing one's hair long!
When in the 1970s, I think, the uK wanted to make all motor scooter riders wear helmets, an examption was made for Sikhs, as their hair (in a turban) was considered to be at least as good as a helmet.
