hi . been growing for almost 9 months now and my hair is really curly . to compare with anyone its about as tight curly as "fallen angels".question is should i brush my hair .even though the few times i do it turns into a big fro. i dont have any pictures yet but when i get some ill show them .and what can i use to control the frizz and show the curls more .

I, too, have rather curly hair (though not tight, tight curls typical of black afros) and cut it last about 6 months ago. I don't brush mine out very often, because when I do, it is HUGE -- like a dark halo around my head and it goes straight out away from the head. I do, occassionally brush it (or pic it) out to let me scalp get some massaging and to pull the oils down the hair shaft....plus it feels good on my scalp.
To keep my frizz down and show off the curls with light control and little crunchy or dry feel, I use a mix of:
Infusium 3 minute treatment (like a cream conditioner) - I use the 'Frizz control' variety
and
Styling product*
After showering or wetting hair with lukewarm or cool water (not usually washing it as my hair dries out and gets frizzy and tangled easily) and lightly towel drying, I mix about a quarter-sized dollop of each the two ingredients listed above.
I rub my hands together and style with my fingers, keeping most of the goop on the hair and not on the scalp.
The conditioner keeps my hair moist without being too greasy and the styling product offers a bit of control, but keeps the hair soft and moveable.
I hope this helps.
(And if you have any pics, I am interested in seeing how long I can reasonably expect my hair to look over the next few months. I am willing to exchange.)
* (Use any styling cream that states it offers some frizz control or shine -- often these are sold as a 'pomade' (and price doesn't always indicate quality -- while I am currently using a redken product which is expensive, I am doing so only because my wife abandonned it and I can make use of it. I usually use 'suave' brand which is rather cheap).
hey at the moment i dont have any pictures when when i do ill post them
thanks .
My hair was really curly (about like Mesmerized or RedLeader) before I let it dread up. Before I let the locks form, I just finger detangled in the shower, and occasionally combed with a wide tooth comb. A spot of Aloe Vera Gel can help hold down the frizzies, while not damaging your hair too bad.
The main thing to avoid the "fro" is to not brush/comb when you hair is dry.

I have to say, as a long curly haired, hair designer, I NEVER brush or even comb my hair, use your fingers only, also, I use the same conditioner I use in the shower, back on my hair for "gel" works great/.
