Anyone ever wish we never invented this silly modern clothing? I was on ebay and other sites looking for some renaissance garb to wear in public, because its better, and found the nicest piece ive ever seen. I'm going to ask a friend if she can quote me a price on replicating it.
how gorgeous is that?

Find out the names of the pieces such as "doublet", etc. and look those up by specific name on EBay and some specialty sites. As well, those earlier social cultures were highly class oriented, and the garb reflected that identity. So if you can figure out a period social position and trade identity, you could put together an outfit to reflect that.
Ebay's selection is surprisingly small :( well at least for the last few days.
What is it that you are wearing in your avatar? It looks unique!

You may have to have the nomenclature right for EBay. For example, the search "renaissance doublet" brings up lots of items. Go to Renaissance or SCA clothing sites and get the specific names of what you like, and then search for them. Tack the word "renaissance" or "sca" in front of the item name in your search. I really like this stuff too - long hair and Renaissance garb go together perfect!
It is very unique. That's a "cossack shirt" I bought at Macy's in 1968. It was briefly in fashion as was the "Nehru shirt" and countless other such things. Wish I'd bought more cossack shirts. People actually wore these on the street. I once picked up a hitchhiker who was wearing one. Figured he had to be OK. The "cossack shirt" is modeled on the real Russian "rubashka" shirt, so there are folk origins to it.
Hi Rome!
I was on another forum today and someone posted this link and the first person I thought was you. Click on 'Clothing for Men.'

P.S. Great hair, BTW... looking real good!
Thanks for the compliment and suggestion!
Unfortunately, the price of this renaissance clothing is quite high, and that site follows suit. It all looks to be fantastic quality however. I'm not big on spending a lot of money for things, but someday I do wish to have a little wardrobe of renaissance era clothing.
I think it's time to begin a realllllly old-school fashion trend! 1970's? Pishaw! 1470's, baby!!!
Hi Sal,
I think that Renaissance clothing (and even some of the relatively "modern" "Western" attire of the 19th century) goes extremely well with long hair! In your case, I imagine how you'll look with super-long hair, your hair color, and most any kind of Renaissance attire - absolutely great, a feast for the art- and style-loving eye!
You also might try any combination of a Renaissance shirt with a kilt if you're courageous enough to pull it off ;-)
All the best!
