Hello:
I was considering getting a 1/2 - 1 inch trim off the back off my hair. I'm at 18 months and need the trim to to remove some layering.
Would anyone in the Washington DC/Northern VA area know of a good hair stylist around? I'm quite nervous about the trim, and want a stylist I can trust.
Thanks so much!
Not a clue. I haven't had a professional trim my hair for years. I work in DC and live in MD, though. Nice to find another local on here. ChrisG and SteveNoVa are local too.
Sorry. I live in the area and I'm closing in on the five year mark, but have never had a professional trim. When it got long enough, I removed some nasty splits on the very end myself. However, if you find one I might be interested, because as it approaches my waist I've been thinking that might be a good stopping point. If I were really going to have it evened out, I wouldn't want to chance it myself.
I haven't had to look for a trim yet as I haven't been growing that long. Not much help are we :)
But on the other hand its nice to see another DC area longhair. Sometimes we locals get together and do things in DC (and elsewhere) as its always nice to really meet other MLHH members. If you are ever interested in doing anything in the area, just email me.
I hope you can find a stylist you can trust.
I don't trim so I don't have personal experience to offer either but there is a salon specializing in long hair in Rockville, Maryland on Rockville Pike, even easy to access by Metro. Alan Collins specializes in long hair so he would listen to your needs precisely. He trained in George Michael methods (the long hair guru, not the singer) and uses that line of products so I'm guessing it is a pricey salon.
Since you don't seem to be wanting the whole papmering experience it seems to me you should be able to get a trim without somebody going creative on you at just about any place that cuts hair. Explain to the stylist or barber exactly what you want and why. You can even tell them their tip and even payment for the service is contingent on cutting only the amount you want. If they will not cut your hair under those conditions then walk out and find another place.
