Well, I thought it was about time I got off my arse/ass and did something, seeing as I haven't done a day's work for 12 years. Cut a long story short I got a job at the local Catholic community centre doing their admin for 16 hours a week (met my Windows 95 PC today - puh-lease). Anyway, the interview was an amusing experience; three guys including the priest on the I/V panel. No-one seemed to mind that I said I was an atheist or a recovering alky but the main guy was definitely iffy about my hair - veiled remarks about 'professional appearance' and such like. Interestingly, the priest didn't seem bothered and I got the job anyway (I think what swung it was when I said I wanted to be paid less than they were advertising!!).
Day 2 at work today (my, it's a chore shaving every day) and I was in a bit of a rush so didn't bother with conditioner, just shampooed. Result? hair was 'soft, bouncy and manageable' (as they say on the bottle) and looked much better than usual. Maybe I've been a pawn in the conditioner manufacturer's little game for long enough!
One of these days I'll get round to registering on the board - been lurking and posting on and off for years. BTW I'm 44 with receding hairline at front but still pretty good at the back (sort of a 'de facto' mullet) - hair's about 18/20 inches at terminal length.
Thanks for all the inspiration on the board - I even had the thought of a cut yesterday so started the '2-week rule'. Just as well really because I've changed my mind today! Don't know if I'd cope with the 'dreaded horseshoe' though......

PS I thought it was amusing that Hans-Uwe's pics of the model with the blond hair didn't get any responses. Reminded me of when the 'real men' go and sit down at Christmas parties when gay disco music comes on!
Hi Laurence,
Congratulations on getting the job. It's interesting how such veiled comments are attempts to get someone to do something (cut hair) without coming out and saying it. I'm glad you didn't have to make that decision.
Terminal or not, I think we're due an update pic!
I must have missed this post. I searched through all the current posts and couldn't find it. Was this made awhile ago?
Jason:
I don't think this was Hans Ewe; here is the link. I believe someone else is using the singular Ewe.

Thanks Jason for your comments. Life is good and getting gooder! Hope yours is too.
You're right - must post another pic. I think my hair is actualy getting shorter! HaHaHa
Hi Big L,
I might not even be able to TELL if a song is "gay" - what makes a song "gay" anyway?
I can't find my post you referred to, either - I think someone else posted the picture, and I commented, saying that this guy looked great - by the way, he's straight if I remember correctly. - In any case, I do think that not only gay people, but also straight people have the right to say that someone of their own gender looks phantastic and to enjoy his looks ;-)
Openly appreciating the beauty of someone else seems much healthier and probably more virtuous than nourishing covert envy - covert envy breeds a spirit of intolerance, destructiveness, and harrassment - and that evil spirit is against any religion worth my respect.
Heck, there are certainly guys with better and longer hair than I have - envying them would pull me down, but openly appreciating beauty in these fellow creatures generates happiness - and it prevents unhealthy drooling, too.
Greetings,
Hans-Uwe
P.S. If the dreaded "horse shoe" should strike, I'd just grow a semicircular mane, a bit like Shakespeare...
