HEllo There,
I'm quite astonished that nobody post the subjet " Does long hair in men tend to lead to baldness????"
I quite paranoid these days, I got the impression that I have loose some hair on the right front.
I mean just take an example take the Metallica band, uh lars ulrich, he has been keeping long hair, now bald on the front. Take David Gilmour from Pink Floyd, completely bald. There are much more examples. Some help to kick away this paranoria would be great
No. MPB is hereditary, not length-dependent.
Hi Jack,
long hair does NOT promote baldness. Only certain short-hair manipulators would say so in order to keep people with a bit of MPB from growing their hair out. You'd have to have your hair at least 10 feet long for the weight to make a difference - a single extremely long hair weighs still "next to nothing" - or, we'd have to dissuade people from using hair bands etc.
IF you have this problem, just make sure you sleep enough, eat healthy, and stay away from smoke (There is indeed some evidence that smoking makes MPB worse.)
Good luck, and don't take sh** from anyone.
Hans-Uwe
Hello Hans,
Thanks for your precious advice. All those bad things u say, I did that. I mean I have very little sleep as I work at night. I smoke too much, and don't eat healthy. I'll try to change that. I have seen a doctor & he told prescribe me Minoxidil Cooper 2. which have no effect after a year use. I'm only 23 & getting more & more paranoid thats why I joing this forum.
Thanks again
Jack

Hi Jack,
try reading the book by Allen Carr, "Allen Carr's easy way to stop smoking" ($10, paperback) before your next attempt to stop. This guy knows what he's talking about - he's gone from 100 to none a day himself.
For you, stopping the smokes would amount to a huge act of appropriate self love, just like growing your hair is. Among other things, your wish to grow your hair is your wish to be whole - like your Creator intended you to be. Staying away from smokes and growing your hair go together quite logically.
You're great and lovable, therefore, you are entitled to that good double dose of self love.
Try to sleep during the day if you work at night - hope you have a quiet appartment. And, if you tend to eat unhealthy, try sharing meals with friends. It can make a huge difference.
By the way, maybe Minoxidil has had some effect - if there's a lot of MPB in your family. Pause for a while and see if it gets worse, stop for good if it doesn't. The best known MPB genes are on the x chromosome, i.e. they are inherited from the mother's family.
Happy growth!

Hello Hans
Both sides, my mother & dad's relative are partly bald. So I see my future. By the way, right now its been 5 days without a single smoke. I didn't miss it. But also I have quit hanging with my friends, who are all smokers. I fall into smoke cause I'm more rock n roll guy, I 1st grew my hair in my early 13 just because of that. Rockers smoke so did I. Now I'm trying to change I smoke only weed only once a month or maybe twice. Since my 13 I haven't cut my hair till last year. they were really young. But havn't take a proper pic. And also, each time i approach a girl, I want to smoke and if i didn't, she ask me a cig. Once i told a girl that I don't smoke n she turns away saying "nerd". She has awfully great ass. I miss that :-)
Any thanks a lot for your advice, I'll update you if my hair has recover a bit so tiny dessert. or if I have transform like MR Clean.
Cheers
Jack

Hi JAck,
It's great that you've gone without nicotine for a while now. I hope and pray that you can keep it up.
A bit off-topic: If that girl calls you a "nerd" for not smoking, she isn't worth your trouble. As I said, staying away from smoke is proper self love, and you have to be good to yourself in order to really love a girl.
I know you'll run inta a girl (or several?) who loves every bit of you - your newly gained freedom from smoke, your growing hair, and everything else. And, if MPB does happen to strike, try a Shakespearian mane around a bald front (I love Shakespeare, he was opposed to the regime of his time at significant personal risk, as we know now; England wasn't that tolerant and free back in those days). No need to sport the "Mr. Clean" look.
Personally, I'm a "nothing-smoker", but kicking the nicotine habit is a great start.
All the best,
Hans-Uwe
You know if you don't smoke, then kissing a girl who does is like kissing an ashtray!
It doesn't but people do go bald, sometimes even at a young age and Dave Gilmour is probably 60 or close by now, so it's no surprise he's bald and rather fat now, which is a pity, considering that he had the longest and nicest hair and was the best looking among member of the Pink Floyd back in the 70s.
I have a former colleague, who has short hair and is in his 20s but is balding on top of his head, while another former colleague around 30 had long hair to mid back recently cut his hair from fear of going bald on the front of the top of his head.
I'd told him not to tie his hair in such a tight pony tail since it puts too much tension on the hair. Instead to lossen the pony tail tie about a centimetre but he somehow didn't want to listen.
I'm, 52 and my hair's at terminal length of about mid back when wet and while I drop a lot of hair, thankfully I'm still not bald yet.
I guess it's in my genes. My late father started balding in his late 60s or earky 70s.
However, all that should remind us of the impermanence of life and our eventual mortality, just as a beautiful flower in its full bloom and splendour today withers and dies within a few days.

no, getting older and your genes lead to baldness
