I've been growing out now for 19 months with a couple inches of growth when I started. You can see it still has a lot of layers. What I want for now is to add at least 6 more months of growth to the front and hold the length at the back where it is. This my first time with hair this long so I am taking it one step at a time. I remember somebody on this forum saying that long hair was all about it being long in the front. Hanging halfway down the back just doesn't matter to me if I don't have the length in front.
I remember my last post saying that I still had a really hard time wearing it tied back in public. It's a sort of paranoia. I am pretty sure that to the Korean public I look a lot less strange if I were to have it tied back, as several women have asked me why I don't use hair ties but hanging loose seems like the only comfortable option even after all this time.
Can anyone see signs of damage from having it loose? Like, sometimes it is pretty windy here and I have gone cycling with my hair blowing around in the wind. It's probably not a good thing. I can post a bigger picture of it if necessary.
I feel like I have this goal to look a certain way when the reality is that such a look is unattainable for me, I just will never look that way. Like, the long haired guy in Britney Spears' video Toxic (guy she makes out with on the airplane), or Bradd Pitt in the movie Legends of the Fall, or again Pitt in the movie Troy. Of course I am not remotely handsome like that but I was hoping to have the same long haired, but rugged look, even warrior-like. It's bloody retarded.
Well sorry about the rambling. About the damage, is is obvious? When I have it in a tail there are areas at the front where the hair is short when it shouldn't be. There are flyaways.
Also, has anyone else had these alful pits under their eyes, and was successful in getting rid of them? I suspect that lack of sleep is one contributor but I don't think that is the whole story. I have read that these things don't go away easily once they develop and they are really ugly.
p.s. just realized that there is a person in the directory using the name "Raven", hope there is no confusion. I really don't care what user name I have Buffleupagus, Torblesmorf, Znagelfiefer, Shaun, whatever, my choice was just influenced by something I was reading at the time.
lol, that might have been me. I'm a big fan of all one length hair and to achieve that you have to let the front grow while cutting the back for awhile. That's what I did for the first seven months of growth. I totally agree with you about having length in front. I would suggest you let it all grow though once the front has caught up.
19 months in pretty early to be able to achieve a ponytail, at least a secure one. You must be on the verge though. I think I started wearing one regularly around 22 months. I wore mine loose but with a lot of gel until I was able to tie it back.
I think your hair looks fantastic. I don't notice damage, certainly nothing egregious anyway. I also enjoy cycling and I found even with a ponytail, I'd get a lot of tangles. That's why I always braid my hair now when I ride. Of course, this option is a ways away for you.
I also was impressed with Brad Pitt's hair in that movie. I don't see why it wouldn't be attainable for you.
Those could be new hairs growing in that just haven't achieved length yet.
I have the same thing. It's the worst part of my appearance. If you find a way to get rid of them, please let me know! I have a lot of trouble sleeping too so maybe that's part of the cause.
I would do it now and raise the level of the length at the back, but I'd have to trust a Korean stylist to do it. It's risky even at home with a native English speaker, hehe. I'd like 3 inches off the length at the back for now, but I don't know how the sides would need to be trimmed or how much I would lose so that it would blend well (and not be overly thick just at the back). I am considering leaving this country soon, I have just had enough of it so maybe it's best to wait until I get home.
I probably have about 22 months growth if one were to add in the initial hair length I had, minus the couple minor trims I was pressured into having. I can tie it back now it all depends on how high up on my head it is.
