God Damn It !!
The hair at the base of the back of my head has anti-gravity powers !!
I've tried every conditioner on planet earth and they still won't lay down !!
I know it will eventually stay down once my hair gets REAL long - but I only want hair down to my jaw/shoulder level so it will never gain enough weight .....
So - I plan on tieing a ponytail about mid height on the back of my head which I will keep FAR away from the scissors ..... and then trim about 3 inches away from the hairs at the base of my neck ......
Whatcha y'all think ??
Will this look crazy ?? Will I regret it afterwards ??
Hi Perfectionist,
conditioners won't do the trick, I'm afraid. I think there is a "styling glue" called "got2be", and you might try the extra strength. The treated hair strands would just look like they have a bit of gel - but they stay put.
You also could grow your hair a few inches BEYOND your target length and then cut it back t6o the length you nwant - that may work much better.
That way, you could continue to let it grow to target length, and then still get the mini-undercut (maybe 1.5 inches would do, rather than 3?) IF you still have to. Don't be surprised if other strands start misbehaving once you have removed those which did so at first.
I'd also say, getting reasonably close to the hairstyle of your aspirations should be good enough - hair will always do its thing. In that sense, too much "perfectionism" may be counterproductive. Do NOT give up - rather, decide to accept a degree of imperfections. That way, your hair will reward you by looking better than you ever thought it would (certainly still not perfect, depending upon your exacting standards - please forgive my humor ;-)
Hope that helps.

Hey buddy. Those 3 inches would save me about 6 months time! Ha, Ha. Sounds like you've got it all figured out but don't forget the 2week rule? B.
Do you know sissors are very addictive? once you used it once, there is a good chance you will use it again in less than 3 months. If a section of hair is bothering you, then you cut it, chances are you are going to want to cut the rest off because, 1. You thought shorter hair might suit you better, and 2. more hair will bug you so you want to cut more off. I made that mistake once, the bangs bugged me so I cut some of it off, then somehow I decided to cut everything. The road to longhair is not a very easy road, it takes a lot of discipline and a thick head to do this, so do yourself a favor, and stay the hell away from sissors!
Dont worry about splits until you have at least 2 years, and if you got any you can trim some off yourself.
Thanks dudes ..... I'm not perfect as a person, so I guess I shoulda known my hair won't be either !!!
So, you want a bit of an undercut? It'll probably look okay, but you'll have to get it cut regularly or learn to do it yourself.
