I am magician/mindreader. Will not trim this until a certain individual is out of office -- maybe not even then.
Having trouble with breaks and tangles -- this is FINE hair. If I run my hand through it a get 4-5 broken hairs (leaving stubs too short to reach to pany wrapper).
When I work for corporations (as this pic) I wear a tux or wizard's robe and it works.
When I sell to people who book for corporations they get anxious about hiring a long hair -- so I must come up with a more "corporate selling" look that goes beyond a ponytail or braids --

Need ideas.
You have great hair Gregg, looks wonderful with your facial air. Very distinguished. What I can't understand is why anyone who is hiring a magician or any kind of performer would have problems with the long hair. That kind of non corporate freedom is what it seems they were looking for in the first place when they wanted to have "fun", isn't it? What could be more wizardly than long hair and a beard? lol
No ideas as I am new to long hair myself and have attempted no "tricks" with it myself. Just wanted to welcome you to the board and say hi...
...and maybe beg you for a little "disappearing act" involving a certain individual :)
What about wearing a turban?
And the answer is... (sound of envelope tearing) "what the hijackers didn't say before they got on the plane". Sad to say, a turban isn't going to help in this day and age. A shame too, because I think it'd be a cool way to keep your hair protected in the heat. A turban and a beard are also pretty cool looking, all implications aside.
I actually have a hard time understanding why long hair would be a problem on a magician/mindreader. What next? Corporate clowns for kid's birthday parties? Ties for construction workers?
At any rate, if you are dealing with people who neede a "business magician" (LOL), try slicking it back with gel and hiding the tail behind your jacket. It's the closes you're going to get. Now, can you tell me where I can get a good business hammock? :)
And don't forget us gardener/landscaper types: we use ties for wiping the sweat & mulch off our brows!

I sometimes wonder about doing that. I often put my hair in a bandana or even, wrapped up pirate-style in an undershirt which is large enough to collect all of my hair and hold it in, but I would love to learn how to put on a turban.
Would I be crossing some religious line, though? Would Sihkd and Hindus feel like I am making fun of their traditional, even dictated, headress? Where would one buy one? How does one tie them?
And, regarding my undershirt on head, is there any type of headress taht is actually meant for that? I use the shirt sometimes when sleeping when I want to keep some leave on conditioner or hair oil against my hair for the evening.

If you want to hide your hair, put you hair in a ponytial, then grab the tail, put all of hair on top of scalp, and put your hair in a hat, make the bottom of your tail touch the top of your head, and you look like a short haired person again, btw I work at kfc and none of the people there no i am a long hair, I wear a kfc hat to work :)
protein! protein! protein! lol
soymilk
eggs
red meat
if you dont like any of these you can always take a multivitamin everyday
What About A Half Tail.....Might Look Great On You
Do not tempt me to vote for...
Gregg, I have a few years on you, and there is no question that for most of us our hair gets weaker as we age. I think a diet rich in protein is a good idea, and use shampoo as seldom as possible, but lots of conditioner every time you shower. Sometimes I do 2x a day. The better brands, like Pantene, have something called a daily strengthening product. I have no proof that it does any good, but it does no harm. I also add a little oil after initial towel dry, and the oil emulsifies with the water, and I can take more water out, always with a motion back from my forehead and never a scrub like motion. I try for the amount that does not look oily, but which lubricates a comb and reduces frizzies. Many people swear by Jojoba, but I have discovered that the high quality culinary oils available at the better groceries are cheaper and just as good. It is disappointing that they have no smell, but I have tried Almond, Walnut, Hazelnut amd grape seed, and they work. My SO has enviable silver long hair and uses mineral oil! I think VO-5 is good too. I ws reluctant to try finasteride because it reduces one of the multiple male hormones which contribute to hair loss out of fear that it might interfere with my intimacy relationship, but it does not. It was originally for prostate enlargement, but accidentally discovered to reduce hair loss. In the form of Propecia 1 MG Q D, it is very expensive, but in the form of finasteride generic 5 MG which can easily be broken into quarter, it is cheap. I cannot swear that it does any good, but it has not done any harm, and I do not want to stop it out of concern that I might lose more hair.
However, I suggest that you tie your hair back in promotional pictures. I rarely go in public with my hair down, but I do not like pony tails either. I have some of the celtic clasps (I am also a Wizard after the order of Merlyn) which I put in upside down, and when I have determined that I have all the hair in, turn it up, so the right side is out, and let my hair come down over the clasp.
Furthermore, I think the great unwashed public is getting over the revolution of men wearing their hair in a natural way. I see men with long hair everywhere.
And do not forget that Sampson lost his power when his hair was cut.

Thanks for the support and ideas --I have thought of the scene from Dracula where Vlad's grey hair is parted and piled (the scene where hge licks the razor).
The idea of a half tale sounds interesting -- how is it accomplished?
PS - Have found that occassional finishing oil application fixes split ends and slides breaks apart -- but can build-up and look greasy......
