I've learned alot from the advice given on these boards, and have since taken hair care more seriously than the first time I grew my hair out. There is one piece of advice I have yet to follow through with though. I shampoo my hair almost every day. I've found that in the past if I didn't I would get mad dandruff and it would look sorta ratty, even with conditioner. I don't know if it's just my hair type or what, but I feel that I need it. Maybe my hair is just more oily then others.
my hair is the same way. I need to shampoo nearly every day or else i get dandruff... :(
I still have to every day as well or mine gets too oily. No real dandruff problem. Sometimes you just have to break the rules :)
Every day here too. Just can't go any longer; it looks like crap.
Me too! If I don't wash it daily, I look like I slept with my head in a used frypan. My son once joked that I might be a quart low. (ha, ha. it is to laugh.) :I
You may find that shampooing every day is the cause of dandruff and excess oils.
1. The chemicals in shampoo are harsh and this will cause the skin to flake and react, each day you scrub the dead skin off with MORE shampoo and the cycle begins again.
2. Because you are washing all the oils out of your hair every day, the body naturally want s to replace them and goes on a super oil regeneration - its trying to keep your hair healthy, and by shampooing you are forcing it into an un-natural state.
Lay off the shampoo, and just condition, and let you hair become happy and natural again.
It could be that you have oily hair. I would go every other day without using conditioner and see if that helps.
You have to slowly wean your body away from daily washings because of your body's being used to it, and producing oils to make up for it.
The dandruff, I'm not sure. It could be residue from the shampoo/conditioner you're using.
Shampoo not such an issue for me however I wish i could go a couple of days without washing it becuase of the time it takes to dry in the morning. I get terrible 'bed hair' in the morning, knotted, out of place, sticking up in places, etc etc - can anyone advise if this is just part of the awkward stage, if so will this pass?
(I'm currently at about 13/14 months progress)
