Okay, after 2 years of growing, my hair is finally achieving the look desired by both me and my wife. I am able to put it in a ponytail rivaling hers in length (roughly 6 inches) and can keep my bangs comfortably behind my ears. What I cannot find on any website I have checked nor in any salon I have been brave enough to enter is what secrets of male movie stars are used to keep hair in check.
Yes, I understand they have stylists who work on their hair constantly between every shot. However, all I am looking for is what to put on to make the hair lay smooth and straight while able to have a brush ran through it. At times, my hair seems to want to fan out behind me in some sort of wild hippy style.
So, I ask you other men, how do I make it look like the Antonio Banderas/Keith Urban/Adrian Paul of our day?
I recommend you give ;Pomade' from American Crew's line of products a shot. I think that would give you the look you want but I could be wrong. Ive found gives you a nice slick movie star look without hardening ever like gel..it stays kinda greasy but I take it thats sort of what you want judging by the dudes who you listed.
Here's the Wikipedia on the substance.

I love it, my hair is so dry and frizzy normally, when I use it my hair pretty much looks like its in a movie shot or something and holds it down but its not constricting it...it will still flow naturally. I also have black hair so it REALLY shines, I dont know how it might work for you. Ive found it sold at any beauty place pretty much that specializes in hair care (Ulta for example).
Following up, here is a review of the product. http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip200.htm LOTS of detail there you can learn about it.
Some of those guys may be lucky and have naturally compliant hair. You have to understand that actors are all about being a character and doing whatever it takes, no matter how bogus it is, to achieve the look needed to play the role. That means they may do things to their hair that are destructive that someone like you would not want to do because you want long hair for real; not for some part where after the shoot you'll buzz it all off for the next job. they may use hair extenstions, or put special gunk in their hair that wrecks it but temporarily makes it look straight and nice. Just speculating.
