I was just wondering what will damage the hair most of all, let it hang loose or in a ponytail?
I prefer to have my hair in a ponytail as i hate to have my hair in the face all the time, especially when i'm in school, but i wonder if my hair will get much more damaged this way or?
And also, this is the kind of band i use to tie my hair back, it's without the metal thing, so i guess it shouldn't be too damaging.
The difference in damage is negligible and almost non-existent. (with proper ties)
Your hair is going to break whether you wear it down or up. That's the natural order of things. As for hair ties, I use scrunchies. It looks like you also use some variation of them. They're very comfortable and very easy to slide off.
That's a very good tie to use. Personally, I prefer keeping my hair tied back since it's a mess of tangles after about 10 seconds of wearing it loose.
Interesting - my hair is a cosmic mess of tangles after I wear it tied up. I can understand how buns and more elaborate hairstyles might encourage tangles, but plain old ponytails seem to be among the worst tangle-formers of all for me. I took my hair out of my ponytail bun thingy last night, and it took me like ten minutes or more to detangle my hair. There aren't really knots being formed, but my ends develop a velco-like love for each other. :P I do occasionally get little sailor knots on individual strands that would defy even Blackbeard's prowess, although I'm not sure that these are from tying up my hair. The interesting thing to me is that my hair takes far longer to tangle and dread up if left loose, even if I don't finger-comb it for a while.
I suppose the different extremes of hair type are different in more ways than we'd imagined.
You have really nothing to fear. And using the Ponyband is the best kind of all and safest. Good choice!
im a hairdresser, and the best tie to use for your hair is a satin scrunchee, they look nice and are really soft on your hair, they do the least amount of damage when you take them out
loose all the way...that's the whole point of growing your hair long :))
on a side note:constraining hair is good on an occasional basis...and some tasks are impossible to get through without constraining hair :))
