Im a curly head myself, and ive been growing my hair out for almost 2 years now, sadly it is still only ear/chin length and i have never ever once had it trimmed or anything. I love curly hair, but it doesnt seem like its actually growing out, it just clumps toghether around my head -_-
My question is, Should it normally take this long for hair to grow? My friend has realy wavy long hair past his shoulders, and we started growing our hair out at pretty much the same time.
Another thing, When i comb/brush my hair out so it looks longer, i can never get it to stay down unless I blowdry + hair spray it, and throught the day this wears off and it slowly poofs upwards. I've heard blowdrying/hairspray is damaging, and I was wondering if theirs any other way I can get my hair to stay down without damaging or making it look all gelly?
Do you have any pics? That seems pretty short for 2 years of growth.
If it's long enough, put your hair in a segmented pony tail or braid. Sleep with it in if you have to. It should de-poof most of it without the mal-effects of blow drying/straightening etc.
It's probably growing just fine. I believe mine was about the lenght yours was at around the same time of growth.
You may just have a slower growth rate, but, you'll probably find that your hair is almost as long as your friends, its just curlier than his and appears shorter because of that reason. My hair hangs by the bottom of my shoulder blades but when it pull a strand down its nearing the base of my back.
I remember this stage, hang in there. The way I started taiming my hair was to tie it back once it was long enough. Unfortunatley, before that i just had to put up with what resembled an afro. I wouldnt recommend using massive ammounts ogel/blow drying/hair spray, because overall its not great for your hair. I can garuntee though, that once your hair starts getting longer it'll fall down under its own weight, by then you will have hair with good volume and it'll look great in its longer stages. It'll be well worth the wait.
Hope this helps : )

Perhaps I should check the spelling of the word 'punctuation' before sending next time...
I remember the orginal 'Eats, Shoots and Leaves' joke - it involved a panda and a prostitute!
The main car park where I live (Harrogate) has signs informing everyone that "Payment Machines are situated in the Lobby's". I almost feel pain when I see them. Still, not as bad as the skip I saw outside my house that had "No Asbesto's" painted on the side!
My wife says I should include 'nitpicking' under 'Interests' on my CV.....
