I had dry split ends and recently i got a 2 inch trim. i thought this would solve the problem of the dry hair tangling and such but my ends are still very dry. the person at the salon said that my texture of hair is oily near the scalp but dry at the ends, and trimming it wont really help. I have tried just conditioning the ends and such but it still doesnt work. Any ideas on how to get the ends less dry and restoring the natural oil it needs?
you can try washing it with plain water...that way your natural scalp oils reach your ends...maybe that will help?
the end three inches of my hair feels like straw so im the same way and its a long road to recovery but you just have to stick with it. I only usse shampoo once a month so my natrual oils to build up and massage the oils from the top of my head all the way to the ends. its time consuming but but worth it to keep your hair. you should post a pic.

I use olive oil once a month, soaking my hair in it and leaving it for 3 hours. I rub about 1/4 of a teaspoon of jojoba oil in my palms and lightly wipe it onto the middle to ends, then finger comb. I do this until there's enough on to stop it from knotting easily, and I can easily get a wide tooth comb through. I also use a leave in conditioner.
Another reason to hate winter...
