Donating my hair sometime next year. Have not cut the back in 3 years, and the front has not been cut since June of 2005. Just thought this site was cool for men with long hair. I don't think my in-laws like it but that's too bad.
Q: Why are you guys so down on Locks of Love?
A: Mainly because of all the comments that we get about cutting our hair and giving it to charity (as if we didn't really want it).
L.O.L. only uses about 3% of the hair it gets for wigs and sells rest for profit or throws it in the garbage. They won't tell you if it went to a child and girls under 6 don't get real hair anyway (boys with cancer don't get any). The records they keep as a charity are sketchy and suspect, and they do charge people for wigs.
That's a lot of nothing to make a personal sacrifice for when you aren't looking to do it in the first place.

I wanted to grow it long and it sounded better when my employer heard about the donation thing. Sure, I'm donating it but after I donate, I will still have it long...
Aha, a cunning plan if ever I heard one!
Hi Joe,
I wouldn't donate - and if they ask you next year why you don't donate, just say you found out a few things about LOL, and challenge them to name alternative non-profit hair organizations who would be more worthy of your donation.
I think you look best with your hair looong! IF you do want to cut it, how about a 1-2 inch trim? ;-)
