Hi guys,
I have included a couple of pictures. I just discovered this board a month ago. I posted a couple of times but this is the first time I have included pictures. I made good progress in the first year, but fell into the nasty straightening iron habit for the next year and a half and appeared to have damaged my hair (particularly ends) My hair has appeared to grow VERY slowly lately and I pray it has not already reached terminal length. (would like mid back) I hate the thought of cutting and losing length. I wish I had discovered this board when I started growing. I have since started treating my hair much more gently. (threw out irons, doing frequent conditioning, etc.) My hair appears a bit healthier now than a month ago but I would love any tips on improving hair growth rate, what to do about ends, etc. Thanks
Here is the picture of the back--it shows the damaged ends much better. Should I trim or grow more before trimming?
= Hey David your'e hair looks fantastic! I think if you were to cut it you should trim the least you can from the ends! Heck, If it were me i wouldnt' even trim it. I would just let it grow longer then trim it a bit. Just stay away from irons, blowdryers and all those devastating appliances

Hey David i think your hair looks great acutally, your type of hai r appears similar to mine, wich is very fragile, i also straightened my hair 1 time, but that was more than enough for me, i noticed the damage maybe one day after when my hair was newly washed.
If you wan't your hair to grow faster, you might try taking B Vitamins or Multivitamins, my hair seems to grow faster since i started taking them:)
Good Luck
Simon
Hi David,
Belated welcome to the board then :)
I think your hair looks great now, I wouldn't cut any of it now. Just keep on being gentle to it should do the trick. It certainly seems to have come out fine as far as I can see.
I am no hair expert but i think its a 8/10 ... its awesome. Keep it going.
Hi and welcome.
It looks healthy and shiny to me with good body, so I am with the other guys and say "just leave it to grow".
Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I had been feeling pretty down on myself for the way I had treated my hair before discovering this board and it is good to know that it is not as bad as I had feared. You all certainly gave me the incentive to keep growing it. I really didn't want to chop it all off and start over. I am still concerned about my slow hair growth (it used to grow fast when I was younger and any tips (diet, etc.) to help improve this would be appreciated. Again, many thanks.
David
is a cycle. There are resting periods when no matter what you do it just isn't going to grow.
A good multivitamin, a healthy diet (good for you, good for your hair), fresh air, sunshine, exercise, all great.
I have gotten into the habit of checking my ends for splits when I'm bored and snipping them off right above the split individually.
I hope you aren't of the belief that split ends cause hair to stop growing?
a good diet (i.e. plenty protein, cause that's what hair is made of) and lots of sleep (that's when hair grows) should do the trick.
welcome aboard!!:)
