Has anyone ever used watered down skin lotion as a temporary conditioner for hair? I'm currently on vacation and had a frustrating incident with my hair tonight. I noticed that I forgot to bring conditioner and went and bought what I thought was conditioner. I didn't read the label thoroughly and bought a combination of shampoo and conditioner. I thought that this might work because at least it has some conditioner. Anyway... it just tangled up the ends big time and I spent a lot of time trying to de-tangle everything. I ended up losing a bunch of hairs.. not thrilled about that at all. I saw that the hotel only has skin moisturizing lotion in the rooms and was wondering if a watered down skin might work as a temporary substitute. Thanks for any comments!

sorry to hear about your ordeal...I haven't bought a 2-in-1 shampoo-conditioner in quite a while...didn't know it was that damaging..:)
I don't think it's that damaging. I was outside in windy conditions with my hair loose and this probably contributed to the problem. Before I washed my hair, I was able to sorta get a brush throught it. Here, the air is really dry so, without any conditioner at all, it's bad... :)

Like you, I also have to use a ton of conditioner to prevent tangles and knotting.
Combination products such as 'Shampoo & Conditioner' in one are next to worthless.
I suppose it might be a good idea to bring some conditoner along when traveling.
Yeah... as long as you don't have a 'brain fart' and forget like I did! Duh.... :)

Why not just go back to a store and get some conditioner? You've already been once and bought the wrong thing.
Hi Bragi... It was already 11:45pm and I didn't have time then or in the morning to go there the next day. Oh well... :) The natural oils in my hair are starting to build back up so things should be back to normal for the rest of my trip... hopefully!
Later,
