It's funny, I've never outgrown my love of metal music and the accompanying headbanging. I don't really care if I'm considered too old....I don't believe one's soul ages, what you like, you like.
So, I posted a video of me hangbanging. To me, it's one of the pure joys of having long hair. Headbanging with short hair just sucks IMO.

Dude, I've been a metalhead since 1992, when I heard Ozzy's "No More Tears" for the first time. That opening bass riff hooked me forever. I'm 35 now, and Metal and Classical remain my two favorite genres. Combine the two, and I'm in Heaven.
You're never too old to headbang. I still do it, and will be doing it well into old age.
so do u dig neo-classical shred metal or progressive shred?
Not especially, no. In fact, I hate shred. Here are a few samples what I'm into:
You're no doubt going to notice another distinct similitary with these clips. They all feature female vox. I have a very strong preference for female vox, especially when the woman is classicaly trained.
Enjoy!
and just for the hell of it 2 jason becker videos :)
the arps in the first video is extremly hard and the classical fingerpicking in the second video is damn near impossible. Jason = best guitarist ever sadly though he has als
Oh, yeah, classic tune from a great album. Unfortunately, DT hasn't produced anything I like since their Awake album. And while Petrucci is a technical maestro, his playing lacks far too much musicality for me to truly appreciate him as a guitarist.
I'm posting from work, but will check out the vids later tonight.
BTW if you want a guitarist with the perfect mix of melody + emotion with technique check this man out
You're never too old to rock'n'roll according to Jethro Tull
I saw Jerry Lee Lewis playing piano on TV the other day. He doesn't have the old energy. In fact he had to support himself by leaning on the piano when he stood up, but he's probably over 80 (?). Still, he proves it.
