A couple of questions for the +50 crowd.
1. Does your hair grow as fast as when you were, say 10 or 20 years younger?
2. How does the thickness of your hair compare with younger days?
3. Does terminal length get reduced the older one gets?
I''m just wondering because my hair doesn''t seem to grow as fast as when I was young and isn''t as thick. I am concerned that even a terminal length of mid-back is not in the cards for my hair. (I would love mid to lower back) However, one good thing is that I don''t seem to lose as many hairs since I discovered this board one month ago and started treating my hair better--I hope this will result in thicker hair eventually.
I don't think so.
days?
Still the same.
Don't know yet - not got there! But hells - I'll take what happens - bottom of shoulder blade will do me!
.
I haven't noticed a change; my hair grows pretty fast.
Still the same
I would think that if growth rate remains the same, and shed rate remains the same, terminal length shouldn't be affected. Just my opinion, though, nothing to back it up with.
at 62, and growing since 56 (do it NOW!):
Heh! I wish.
Thickness and fineness are two different characteristics.
Fineness: not sure, it's pretty fine now, may have been before.
Thickness: far less! Parially due to developing MPB on crown.
Reports suggest this is true. I *know* that my hair tapers, and the tip does not pass my nipples; hardly have to trim it!
For all that- it is STILL better than short hair!
Keep it growing!
years younger?
I think mine grows about the same.
It seems to be thinner, although I am not really sure about this, I could be that I am a bit balder.
Not sure, mine is still growing, it doesn't seem to have stopped growing in the last four years or so.
it has ever been. I started growing it in 1992, and I have among the longest hair of any of the guys here.
It is probably as thick and probably grows as fast as it did when I was young.
Age may affect terminal length, I have nothing to compare it with. I did not start growing it long until I was 39 years old.
I do take certain supplements, MSM and saw palmetto, which are good for hair.
Absalom
Absolutely fantastic hair, Absalom! True inspiration to keep growing mine. I'm contemplating starting to take multivitamins, etc., hoping this will improve my growth rate. (I have never taken vitamin pills up to now) What is saw palmeto, and where do you get it? David
go to google images and enter jimmie (or maybe it's jimmy) dale gilmore. he's 60 now; has great hair.
No, when I was inmy 20s and 30s it grew at about 5" a year, now it's down to 3" a year
Thinner
Yes, because of the slower growth.
However, this soesn't apply to every over 50. Some have hair that grows as fast as before. There's only one way to find out which you are - get growing and see what happens.
Good luck!
