I was just thinking today of the fact that many girls will not even consider going out with a guy whos hair is long. What about the other way around. What about the girls with really short hair. I'm taking average guy length, butch, or shaved here. While I prefer long hair, I think I would still try it.
actually, she would have to be super fine I mean hot and smokin, but even then maybe not, so the answer is prob. no, most girls I see actually like long hair on guys, at least where I live, there aren't many guy that have long hair here though, so i guess it is something different. Long haired guys get all the girls, brad pitt had long hair and nearly every girl is crazy about johnny depp, and lets not forget the guy whoe had the most, gene simmons from kiss. :)
Of course! In fact, I actually seem to like short haired women better: Winona Ryder, the new-and-improved Natalie Portman, most of my exes... 8)
I agree with Dave M - Johnny Depp has sported some very nice long hair, and he's hardly ugly.
I would definitely date a girl with short hair - provided she was facially attractive. I saw a girl a while back with a shapely body, and a skin head and she was very attractive. So, yes I would definitely consider it.
If anything, you'd respect her for her individuality.
Lastly, Natalie Portman had shaved hair in 'V For Vendetta' and still looked hot.
I am dating girl with short hair. We've been together for 17 months.
I noticed alot of girls with short hair tends to be bossy, and I dont like bossy girls... not that anything is wrong with them...
Very few girls actually look better with shorter hair, (for example, those with bad hair types) so it's possible. However, to choose to go with a short-haired girl over all the gorgeous ones with hair down their back, she'd have to be in great physical shape to make up for the lack of the physical compliment long hair can make all by itself.
For instance, I have dated a girl who didn't have the greatest figure (still decent) because she had the longest most well-conditioned hair I had ever seen in a girl my age. The other reason was she was very smart and had an attitude which I admired (at the time). Those factors together make something like an athletic figure much less important than I would usually look for in a girl.
But a butch cut girl would have to be fit and right in the head, else there is not enough appeal to make an effort.
I'm not that handsome to be ruling out girls just on the basis of their hair, or lack thereof :) Bald girls with a good personality and mind, feel free to email me.

My girlfriends got short-ish hair, sorta in between cheek and jaw bone length, which is long for her. Apparently shes just had a hair cut today, i havnt seen her yet, so it could be really short now! I actually do prefer long hair on girls, i love waist length hair. But as far as going out with someone, to me, as long as the girl sees the importance of looking after her hair and it looks good, the person underneath is more important.

I prefer long hair on girls, to be sure (and since deciding to grow I am far more conscious of it), but I would put other aspects above her hair. That said, it would have to be a set up or a friend that was already attracted to for other reasons since I would not seek out the woman with short hair in a room when other, equally attractive in body and face, women with longer hair were available.
Short hair can be very attractive on some girls, but I do find that long hair draws attention from the rest of one's physique and face. So much so, that women who seem average sized with long hair suddenly look 'rounder' (to be nice) when the hair is cut short.

They wouldn't normally attract me as much. If I got to know a girl like that and got to love her personality, I'd be attracted to her despite her short hair.
If I'm just randomly looking at women and trying to get the nerve to approach one, I wouldn't pick a shorthaired one.
I usually don't prefer women with anything shorter than a chin-length bob. But I must say it would be interesting to be in a relationship where the guy has waist-length hair, and the girl has a really short haircut, like a couple inches. What a wonderful contrast in itself, not to mention that it's usually the other way around when there's that much of a difference.
....a million years ago I was head over heals in love with a gal who had mid-back, wavy, blond hair.....we were working together, living together, traveling, having great adventures and headed towards marrage. I planned a two month camping/hiking trip through the West for us and she "prepared" for the trip (without telling me), by cutting her hair short and having it permed (tight).
It should not have made a difference, but it did.....I just never felt the same about her after that. Eventually, we went our own ways (as friends.....I got to keep the cat ! sigh...)
So alas, that is why poor ol' White Tail is still a Bachelor...living on the edge of the desert with a "Ranch-Full" of Cats...HA!

Shorter hair for two months of unknown water resources is understandable, but a perm??? The stench from permed hair every time it gets wet is enough to put anybody off. Blech!

Given that this is all theoretical...
Hairlength is not even in the top three...shared interests and abilities, personality and willingness to put up with mr cranky all would be more important than the hair...not that I would turn down the two lovely ladies (both with hair longer than mine) I recently went hiking with...if they were available. ;)
My girlfriend has the long in the front, gradually shorter in the back thing going on right now. Best of both worlds. :)
And to answer your question, I like both. Some girls tend to look alot cuter with shorter hair.
I actually have it the wrong way round; I think most girls look a lot better with really short hair, whereas most guys look better with longer hair.

It seems like some here would still go out with a girl with short hair if her personality was good, but most prefer long hair. I guess its the same way with girls. While they would go out with a guy with long hair most prefer short hair, which is unfortunate.

Yeah no duh they look for other things. Hair may play a small factor but its not a big deal.

Okay okay... The way I put it is.. 'I just like LONG hair better than short hair'.
Maybe. The initial attraction wouldn't be there for me, so there'd need to be something else for me to take interest.
I've been married nearly twenty years, but I did date a couple of girls with short hair before that.
One called Sheena was very pretty and held my hand a lot, but then admitted she was living with an older guy and her parents were encouraging her to date other people! (You have to wonder at parents who would encourage their own daughter to cheat). I wondered why I had to meet her outside her (parent's) house at a specific time, and why she didn't appear from inside the house but from the other direction! She was very sweet though. I liked her a lot, but there was no second date.
There was another short haired girl I was involved with, but that's a story I can't tell online. Well, I could tell you the part about how I got involved in amateur dramatics in order to see her, and her father, who was the director, deliberately sabotaged my sound effects! Performing on the stage myself wouldn't have been compatible with my long hair, even at the amateur level, which is why I got into sound effects, whereas she could just wear a wig over her short hair.
Certainly neither of those ladies complained about my long hair, and nor did I complain about their short hair.
OTOH, my wife has long hair and all the girls I had serious relationships had hair at least to their shoulders. My first love had hair down to her tailbone.
I don't mind short hair on other people atall, as long as it isn't shaved. Even then I respect that person's choice, but I can't imagine dating a girl with a shaved head. It's mostly my own hair that has to be long! There is one other caveat, in that I wouldn't like it if I was used to someone having long hair and they cut it all off.
As an immediate answer, I'd say no, cause I think you need to be attracted before going out with someone, and I don't find short hair on girls to be very attractive.
But then, I can be attracted to someones person as well, so if I got to know them a bit first, then I wouldn't let their hair be the one thing that stood in the way.
Short hair can look good on girls. But really short? A tiny minority of people look good with extremely short hair, in my opinion.
