Hi folks,
here we are at 14 months of growth. The bangs are no more a problem - most of it stays tucked behind my ears now for quite some time. But maybe I should cut the back hair a bit to even it out and avoid the mullet look?
What do you think?
The rest of my hair feels great, and I'm looking forward to it all fitting into a pony tail... maybe next year in February or March... :-)
Comments are welcome!
Regards from Karlsruhe, Germany,
Alex
Hi Alex,
You have a fantastic growth rate and your hair continues to look great. I agree with your idea of cutting a bit of the back. I would recommend an inch.
I'd second that. Did it a couple weeks ago and am much happier (granted, I'm not as far along as Alex).
Leave it alone...you will not have a mullet look. Nice texture.
Let it be.
Hmmm...not sure - the bangs are plenty long enough to avoid being mistaken for a mullet IMO but I'd be wary of cutting too much off the back after all this time. I've looked at your progress photos with interest several times and I think you really suit your hair so well with the increasing length, regardless of the two distinct lengths going on.
Just think how long the back will be by the time those bangs are long enough to get into a pony tail - it's going to look VERY long by then. But if you cut the back now, your first pony tail will be a much less impressive looking specimen...
I'd say try to stick it out, at least until your bangs are an inch or two longer and then, if you feel you must, only take a small amount off the back. Grow the bangs and trim the back a couple of times and it will be evened out before you know it (if indeed that's your ultimate goal).
Your long hair is looking great! Just let it continue to grow-out by itself for the best look of all.
Your hair is very schon. (no umlaut key here...)
I would not cut it. IT looks good, If you are very concernced aboutth emullet look, let the bangs come down closer to the chin a bit and then round it down the back in a natural-looking V-Line without taking length from the bangs at all. That isn't required though...au naturel is working nicely.
Schon dich zu sehen.
Tschuss!

Nope don't cut it.....You look awesome like it is very healthy and the style fits your face well.
Grow on!
Paul
I have this scary image of this being me in Spring 2007. or at least what my hair will look like *is frightened* But seriously, looks like it's going good for you. Keep growing!
Hallo Alex,
Super Wachstum, ständige Steigerung!
Whether you get a cut in the back or not, I think it's really up to your taste. Right now, I think it's quite a good style, and, as I wrote in another post, there's "no reason for mullet alarm". By the way, if you ask a hair stylist to cut it 2-3 cm, they'll probably cut it 2-3 inches at least, and they might lack the self discipline to refrain from thinning or other destructive acts - so, do be careful. If you get cut off too much in the back, that would be the "mop" look (it would be temporary, of course, since your hair grows on...)
Happy growth, and good luck with your concerts!

Hello:
I wouldn't advise cutting the back at only 14 months. Give it 2 years of solid untouched growth then decide. Looks pretty good now I think. Nice thick and wavy hair. I like the your glasses too. Not a fan of the soul patch though.
I disagree. I think the soul patch anchors the long hair to you and completes the look.
Just my thought.

With the shape of his face, for me, the lone soul patch looks slightly out of place. Perhaps with a moustache above it, (like your picture), would look complete the look and look cool. Truthfully it's just fun to type the word 'soul patch'! I shaved my full beard into a fairly large soul patch 2 months ago. My wife and co-workers liked the look. I could tolerate for about 2 weeks, then I had to have my full beard back, which is most comfortable for me.

I agree with the others. let it grow, stay away from the scissers. I think too many of us worry at the in-between stage and try a trim here or an cut there. It just makes the journey that much longer.

Your hair looks good. The best thing to do for now is to just let it grow.
