I've been growing my hair for 13 months now. It's thick, and curly at the back, but pretty wavy at the front. I cannot keep it out of my face, even with hair gel and other crap, and am wondering if there's a way to do so without wearing some gay headband or hair clips. Every time I put it behind my ears, it falls back in my face within a couple of minutes.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Tom
Hats are crude but effective. It will eventually get to the point where hair in the face won't be a problem anymore. You're almost there. Just rough it out for the time being.
i allways found the best way through the difficult stage was to wear some hair grips as close to your hair colour so they wont be to noticable for you
Not true, my hair has just started getting in my face all the time again, when I'm working.
It hasn't done that for a long long time, but now it's doing it. Majorly annoying.
Hi Tom
I never knew that a "headband" signified a gay person? Many of we guys have worn them in the growing-out stages and even way past......no sweat. And "hairclips?" I even used them myself at a certain point when growing out my hair until long enough to put into a ponytail. Sure made the "Awkward Stage" easy. These two items really come in handy at the stage you are it and will very much solve your problem even better than gel.
Good luck in growing out your hair. So far so good! All the best.

Well, first it's important to be able to identify the difference between a "gay" headband, and a straight one... Here's how:
1) Gay headbands prefer their own sex to that of the opposite, feminine one; so, they tend to be in masculine colors, --- usually brown, black, or something that will be subtle & blend in unnoticed with your own natural hair color.
2) Straight headbands and hair clips are attracted to opposite hair clips, especially feminine-colored ones, --- pink with silver glitter being the most polular.
3) So, now that you're armored with the above knowledge, you can confidently go about wearing a pink headband or hair clip, knowing the world will view you as anything but gay...
--- there now... aren't you glad you asked?

Alice band in your hair colour - preferably steel is ideal. David Beckham wore one for years and it looked good and many other footballers do whilst playing.
There is nothing gay or feminine about them.
People identify clips and headbands as feminine because typically women have long hair and are thus seen with clips and bands more than men... There is nothing inherant to a clip or band that signifies gender or sexuality O.o
However, personally I don't like them so I don't use them. Hats always work :) Bandanas are a great way to go as well.
wear an alice band...alice bands rock!!!and no...you won't be perceived as gay in them...many longhairs wear them!!
You could push those sunglasses up on your head to create a non-headband headband. It's an easy solution on a bright day!
That's what I used till it got long enough to put in a half-tail. I also found that if I take the bangs, and put them on top of the side hair, and then pull the side hair over it, repating till I get the whole thing behind my ears, it actually stays pretty good!
Hi Tom,
your hair looks great - and, the best thing, any current problems will go away in a few months... There's been enough practical advice already. I personally like baseball hats, because they also protect me against the sun.
Happy growth!
