I work at a local Quiznos restaurant and I have to make sandwiches next to a toaster for about 75% of my shift. This really dries out my hair but I'm not sure how bad it actually is for it because after i come home and wait a couple hours, my hair becomes moisturized again. But would you guys reccommend using more conditioner or conditioning more often?(i do it once a day)
any help is appreciated :)
Hi Devin,
I work in a kitchen also, --- as well as do gardening work --- so I understand the concern. Here's some thoughts I hope will help...
1) I assume you already do this; but just in case, I will emphasize... MAKE SURE TO TIE YOUR HAIR BACK SECURELY AWAY FROM HEAT SOURCES. As a regular practice, I put my hair up in a "bun" (it's almost belt-length now, so I'd be at-risk of catching my mane on fire if I didn't).
2) Yes, extra conditioner, especially at the ends, helps. I also use a little beneficial oil on my hair ends (Kukui nut, Jojoba, or Almond oil), --- helps prevent split or dry ends.
3) As my hair has gradually gotten longer, I wash it less often (about twice a week now, as opposed to every other day like I used to do).
Other than that, see if you can stand as far away from that toaster as possible, --- my best to you!
