yo folks. first of all i am glad to be part of this board. i got a very gud response after my very first post a few days back and i shud say i feel at home here and like to discuss a lot about hair related stuff! i wud be very happy if some wud give their opinion on their choices of shampoo and conditioner etc. i mean i started with Pantene first, and then after my hair reached my shoulder blades, i realized Pantene was not suitable for my hairtype, so tried different other things before settling with Garnier Fructis Silk and Shine. I use the same Silk and Shine Conditioner. I recently bought Garnier Silk and Shine Oil Repair cream (without Washing, but havent tried it out yet. can anyone tell me if i shud use it as well. it wud then mean that i have to wash my hair with shampoo, then use my conditioner. and then after drying apply this cream. wud it harm my hair in the long run? hope i am not askin too many questions!!
Hi Prem,
Welcome to the board. First off, nice hair :).
You could call me an 'old' poster of this board as I've been here since 1997. The support this board gives to 'long-hair growers' has been nothing short of tremendous. I was largely encouraged to grow my hair long by the board members here.
I'm currently using 'Mane 'n' Tail' shampoo and conditioner, and am using 'Bealite' leave-in serum for dry care. Shampooing hair is a very harsh process as it strips the hair of natural oils (culprit being the ingredient known as - Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLS) or Ammonium LS). Conditioners serve to replenish and nourish the dried-up hair. Natural oils make the hair soft and manageable but unfortunately, the rate of production is usually insufficient to nourish the entire hair length, especially when you have long hair. Extremely dry hair will eventually result in split ends, which will make our mane appear perpetually frizzy. So it is essential to take care of your hair ends after shampooing. Conditioning immediately after shampooing is a good 'wet care' measure and applying leave-in serum is excellent as 'dry care'.
Hence, instead of damaging your hair with what you're currently doing, you're protecting your hair from long-term damage. You'll achieve a nice mane eventually.
So keep up your routine and may you enjoy your long hair journey.

I am from Bangalore, India and for me Long & Strong from Garnier works the best (both conditioner and shampoo) .... after 5/6 wash my hair becomes too soft when I wash it once with Sleek & Shine again from Garnier. This is how I try to keep my hair interesting.
Srini.
yo srini. am from madras. i also use different products from garnier time to time. so far i have had the best results with both long and strong and silk and shine. jin advised me to try out mane'n tail. i got mine today and am gonna try it out 2morrow!
