I watched a DVD from PRS guitar that had a factory tour and stuff... and one thing I noticed is they got so many longhair men that I can't even count them! In fact the guy giving the tour is longhaired too! Unlike Fender's factory tour every most people have conservative looking hair...
Not only that, they are excellent guitars!!
By the way, whatever happened to the guitar you painted?
here it is... its still drying (didn't I say it will take a month?
PRS does make good guitars... if I could afford it!
Man that sure did turn out nice Tai.
Why so long? The one I was working on (and still am) takes only 72 hours before the next recoat if I wait too long. I think it was if I wait for more than 2 hours. Here's one I did a while back. You can't see the red under the bridge though. Is kinda crackly finish type by accident. Came out nice though. GRRR! It won't link to it so heres the page:

Here is why it takes so long to cure lacquer... Lacquer cures by evaporating and you will notice when lacquer "dry" it doesnt dry quite that hard. If I try to sand and buff them before it has a chance to really cure I would end up making ugly marks and stuff and it will never come out good. Also while its still soft its easy to mark it by resting it against anything. People these days uses catalyzed urethane which cures fast because they are 2 part like epoxy, so they need about a day or so and it will become rock hard. I do not have the equipment needed to spray those things so I have to use lacquer from a spray can... hope that answers your question. go to www.reranch.com for more details about how this is done...
Ive never played a PRS myself, but i've heard other people play them and they're good sounding guitars. I'm Jackson fan myself. But guitars and long hair go together like pie and whipped cream. lol
Except Fender... all the factory tours I have seen of Fender I havent seen many longhair men, if there is any. Its as if they had a policy against longhair. I have seen older photo of Fender custom shop workers with long hair but they all cut it by now...
