Hi Folks
Seen quite a few posts lately about people losing strands of hair each day. As far as I'm aware this is normal and isn't something I've ever worried too much about. What my query is, is what do you guys do with the hair that falls out. I use a special grid over the plughole in the bath that catches the strands of hair and then I tend to flush it down the loo. Is this a good idea or do you think it's better to put it in the bin? (Since keratin doesn't degrade I guess large amounts of the stuff over several years could lead to a blocked loo?).
I keep sayin' I'll put some new prog pics up and still haven't lol. It's not really got any longer even though I've had it long for six years most of my mates who started growing only three years ago now seem to have much longer hair than I. I guess it's stopped growing or my Mum's trimming off more than she's telling lol!
See ya soon guys!

Using a hair plug for catching fallen hair in the bath tub is a good practice. However, hair clogs drains, whether it's the bath tub, toilet, or sink, so by disposing of it in the loo, you're defeating the purpose of the hair plug. Unless you want to start buying stock in Drano, I suggest collecting the fallen hair from the hair plug and then simply dropping it into the trash.

Where did you get the 'special grid'? I've looked around and haven't found anything. It would be great if it can be ordered over the web. While our shower drain cathces some of the hair, a lot gets stuck just down below and I have to fish the mess out with a coat hanger every few months!

Look in the cleaning supplies section of your local grocery store. I bought mine at Hy-Vee. I think it was $1 or $2. They're really only recommended if your tub has a classic, open hole for a drain that requires a stopper to keep water from draining (mine does). Otherwise, if your tub has a more modern drainage grate with tiny holes in it, and employs a drain lever, then you've already got a built-in hair trap.
I throw it in the trash.
Hi RainMaker,
I have a removable grate in my shower when I'm done I remove the grate, get the hair out and roll it into a ball and through habit, flush it down the toilet. I imagen that its best to put your hair in the bin, I curse myself everytime I flush it down the toilet. If we get a block I'll probably get the blame, lol.

Well, my favourite fictional-yet-imaginative way of disposing of excess shower-dropped hair is to roll it up into a ball (perhaps several smaller ones) and hide it (them) in a batch of devilled eggs (under the yolk filling - YUM!) and donate the platter to a church bazaar potluck or a staff party (making sure my name is not on the platter anywhere).

PS I hope you realize this is just a joke, albeit one that reveals a rather twisted sense of humour and which may partially explain my peculiar avoidance of most pot-luck items.

If you are a gardener....
...add it to your mulch pile along with dryer lint, coffee grounds and shredded "junk mail"
Try to toss all hair off into one corner of the shower. If your
hair is really long it will get stuck on the drain.
After you get out of the shower, just take some tissue or a paper towel and scoop up everything and toss it into the trash.

My hair naturally falls out when I take a shower, though it remains quite thick. I use a hairstrainer to catch it..they are really cheap, I think mine was a dollar or so--and it saves your drain from wads of hair!
