Hello one and all.
This is my first post here although I know a few of you. *waves to Oren and B.R. Gallagher*
I've been growing my hair with since december 1st of 04. I'd like to say that it hasn't had a trim since then, but a couple days ago I trimmed about 3/4 of an inch off the end if my hair to even things up a bit.
The problem that I'm having is that my hair is EXTREMELY dry. I'm looking for product suggestions to take care of this problem.
I've heard some good things about cholesterol, but don't know what it does or even where to get it.
Any suggestions would be appericiated.

Are you the same Mister Morph from beardcommunity.com who ends his posts with something about "Trent doing some limbering up exercises"?
Anyhow, if so I remember seeing a picture once. Nice hair from what I remember.
I certainly do not know the best thing for dry ends/dry overall hair, but a lot of guys here use things like jojoba oil, or other plant based oils for dry ends, such other things like leave-in conditioners or hot oil treatments, and even such things as anti-frizz serums like John Frieda stuff.
Coconut oil is a good product used sparingly, and even your shampoo or the frequency with which it is used may be contibuting to your problem. Too frequent washings may be stripping all the natural oil out of your hair. Or you might be rinsing out too much of the conditioner or something.
I don't know about cholesterol really, but as a fatty oil like some of the others, it would probably have the same effect as any other oil.
Well, good luck, and hope to see you here more.

1. Try L'Oreal MELTing Gel. Apply to damp hair. Style as usual. Will provide
moisture and shine.
2. When your hair is damp OR dry...try L'Oreal Liquid SPRAY Gel. It adds
shine and provides just a bit of hold. Great for flyaways.
Trick: spray over 'problem' areas, then smooth the area with a dry face cloth.
Makes your hair look smooth and shiny. great for controling the 'frizzies too!
I've been using these products for about 4 years with great success.
Welcome to the MLHH Steve!
As for dryness, try using shampoo infrequently - say about about 2x per week, max. When you do, use only enough to barely form lather.
Use a good conditioner afterwards if desired.
After washing, apply a few drops of Jojoba oil to your fingertips and stroke it onto your hair towards the ends. The oil I find really works well for dryness. Include in your diet some flax seed or cod liver oil, a good multi vitamin and biotin too.
Hope that helps,
- Oren
Thanks one and all for your replies.
I'll try to upload a picture or two another day.
