I am very interested in fashion and during the last years, I saw more and more longhairs on the catwalk. A lot of male models have hair just beyond shoulder length. My wardrobe is very trendy and I had always short hair. My last hair cut was at the beginnig of September and my haircut is now short (very classic). After visiting your website and the sites of some users, I am very excited about long hair and I decided to grow out my hair. My aim is shoulder length (very clean) and you can see a picture of what I want. My opinion is that the male model has beautiful long hair. His hair reach his shoulders (even beyond), really cool!!
I have some questions: how long does it take to go from short hair to shoulder length? How many trims do I need? During the hair growth, I want my hair very clean and which kind of haircuts are possible during the growth process?
I thank you all for your support and advice!
Hi Peter,
you need to be patient for a little over a year and a half. By all means, try to avoid "maintenance trims", since "cutting hair for length is like having intercourse for virginity". If you think your hair looks "scruffy", just try to gel it down or something similar.
If you ABSOLUTELY feel you need a trim, just have them trim the lower back ends of your hair in your back, and NOT the bangs or the hair on top. Trims do prolong the "growing out" phase. Also, avoid any "thinning cuts" of your hair, that would be destructive.
All in all, you have to be very committed during the next 1 1/2 to 2 years in order to make it. Post progress pictures if you feel comfortable doing so.
All the best,
Hans-Uwe
