My hair gets extremely thick and puffs up in an unsightly manner if i do not get these. I been growing it for only two months so far and the thinning cuts i've got have made it look better and also more manageable. As the subject states,Why are thinning cuts bad?
When in the process of growing ones hair out, it is necessary to have to put in your time passing through what is called: "The Awkward Stage." The hair puffs up because all of the hair is growing and is not anywhere near long enough yet to settle down on it's own. Thinning cuts remove many hair lengths. For a while all looks tame and then the "puff-up" look returns. Another Thinning cut reduces hair length once again and you are back to ground zero.
So, "As the subject states, Why are thinning cuts bad?" You will never achieve long hair if you allow it to be thinned and cut in the beginning stages on a regular basis.
Justin couldn't be any more correct on this! Maybe the question should be asked: Do you want medium-lenght hair, or looooooong hair? If you only intend to get your hair long enough to barely touch the shoulders or shorter, then by all means, thin to your heart's content!! But if you want your hair to truly reach shoulder-length or longer, then you'd be making a big mistake by thinning.
End of story. Period.

Thanks so much for this important added advice Ken. It is right on target should this person desire the "barely touch the shoulders or shorter" length.
Justin~
I'm aiming for my hair to cover the shoulder blades. I'll swear off thinning my hair then. Perhaps i'll gel it down in the meantime. Thanks for all your advice. It brought me to my senses.
...hair like those of metal swede's and Neil's...hey...thick hair can look AWESOME...you might wanna keep that in mind should you decide to get another thinning cut again :P
Hi peter,
You're right that if you have thick puffy hair it can look a bit wild, however, if you want truly long hair you need as much of the stuff as you can get. Having thicker hair generally means that when your hair gets down as far as your waist, or even further it will still look thick at the ends. Thinning your hair will uneven the growing process and if you do grow you hair long and have had it thinned several times, it may look thin at the ends, which no one wants. My hair once resembled an afro and a big one at that, then about 2 and a half years in over the next few months my hair started losing its independance and evetually fell. I think it looks alright now. Thick hair is something many people can only wish to have, it take a bit of patience, but i'd definatley say it was worth it. If you've got thick hair keep it and wait for the benefits : )
