Basically, I've grown my hair on and off to about bottom-of-ear length over the pass 1-2 years. I then get it cut short again and repeat the process, despite wanting it to grow long.
I have decided recently to get one more maintenance cut, as needed, and grow to about this length:
At the moment, it is this length, a "unique" haircut:
I would like to know what type of length I should cut my fringe to in order to start growing it and not needing a maintenance cut for ages.
Hi Emperor, I would start growing right where you are at now since the front is a lot longer than the top and back, you are a lot further ahead.
A lot of the awkward stage it usually concerning the bangs, like not being able to tuck them behind the ears. When the guys on this board talk about evening up thier hair they are refering to cutting the back to be more equal to the bangs.
The way your hair is now would be a good start.
You could just not cut it at all, if you want. Having it longer in the front means it'll be easier to get it into a ponytail when the back starts to get long, and since the hair in back is located lower on your head than the hair in the front, it'll kinda even out.
