I posted a topic about a week ago on how I thought the hair on my back right side was thinner than on my left. This just started like 2 to 3 weeks ago. I am sure it was not like this a month ago. I even have pics to proove it. I am shedding a ton of hairs from that area. For every one hair that comes out on my left back side, 10 comes out from the right. Do you think that this is the resting phase? I read that there is a phase where hair stops growing for 3 weeks. And then it enters a dormant stage for 2 months. The only thing that is off is that why would this be localized in one spot. I've got a doctors appointment for early november, hopefully he has some answers.
Hmm, weird. I don't know whether the resting phase is so noticeable or not. Can you please post the pictures you mentioned?
I had never heard of a "resting phase". Even if there was such a thing, I doubt it would be prominent in one area like that. The doctor should have a logical explanation for the problem, and more than likely he will have a solution. Good luck and keep us posted.
Hair only lives an average of 6 years, then the entire strand will fall out. The life span of the hairs can be different in different places, so yes that section of his hair could be just entering its last moments and dying, before the new growth starts.
First of all the resting phase should not cause you to have patchy hair loss ... resting pahse is the final stage of your hair growth before it starts to fall out.
The symptoms you have sound more like a minor form of Alopeica Areata to me ... I am no doctor and all I am doing is matching the symptoms of AA and that of yours. You should get back those lost hair pretty soon.
I had a similar problem few weeks back and finally found out that this was because of the way I combed my hair and also because of the impression left by cap.
Further I usually find the amount of hair is more in places close to the place where you can see the hair spinning out on your rear scalp ... I donno what this part is called. Mine is on right side and so I find lesser hair on left and more on right.
