Yesterday I got my first anti lonmg-hair comments - so I must be making progress and it jolted me out of feeling fed up about the awkward stage (thanks for all your support, guys). I work in social care and so you wouldn;t think people would be too bothered but a colleague I hadn't seen for a year didn't recognise me at first (last time he saw me I had a crewcut!). The remark was "just don't wear a ponytail...Everytime I see an older man with one I think "grow up" and want to cut it off". Of course I advised that would be assault. Can't tell you how much this has determined me to carry on...
Sounds like the kind of remark my ex girl friend would say. I could see my sister saying something like that too.
I was in a autoparts store, This women kept staring at me, I thought maybe she liked my hair, or wanted me to buy her wiper blades??... Who knows??
She came up to me and said that in the Bible it says that long hair is a discrace to men.
I said that I was aware of the verse ( 1 Corinthians 11:14 )
And that if she read it more closely she would see that a woman
should not have short hair as she did.
That hypocrite just turned around and walked away!
You could always bring up the remark that their savior had long hair. They never like that one.
the problem with that is that no one really knows what Jesus looked like. The paintings etc. that show him with long hair, beard (or clean shaven), were mostly done during the past 500 years, either at a time when lots of men had long hair, or later when long hair was thought to look pastoral and holy. some of them are preposterous. Jesus was a mediteranian Jew. I've seen pictures of Jesus looking like Fabio, or like some nordic viking beowulf character with blue eyes and long blond hair. He probably looked more like Henny Youngman with a sunburn.
anyway, the negative comments indicate progress--a good way to look at it.
I had no idea who Henry Youngman was, so I googled him and found a picture of a bald guy (?)
sure why not? Or Sid Ceasar or Mel Brooks. Maybe Jesus looked like Kofi Annan. That would freak the Mundanes wouldn't it?
One of my friends got hit with the same bible thing. him being an atheist automatically got angry and spouted some language I can't repeat here and the middle finger at the guy lol. Honestly i'd probably do the same. People have no place to push religion on you or critisize your looks. it's just rude.
As my cousin is a priest he didnt say anything about my hair... And he likes me very much... Anyway on one lession of i dont what to calll it in english maybe "religion" on girl at my class asked the teacher(which is a nun) "Why did Jesus have long hair?" and she said that Jesus looked like an ordinary man of that age and he didn't want to be "noticed"(sorry for my bad language)
