I was wondering what most of you do with your hair while sleeping? I tend to wash the evening before (due to my early AM start to the work day) and my hair normally looks fairly good that same evening after drying and combing, but after sleeping, I have quite a bad case of bedhead which needs a fair amount of de-tangling, etc. (I wear my hair loose at night) I hestitate to wear a ponytail at night for fear of damage and my hair isn't long enough to use some of the fancier techniques that true longhairs use. (e.g. Gollan's "sleeping bun") I was wondering if any of you have any ideas that cause the least damage and also keep the hair reasonably civilized, or is "bedhead" just a fact of life? Thanks for any pointers.
Hey Dave,
I feel ya man...I've generally observed that the days in which I hadn't taken a shower after waking up, my hair was very tangly...and oily...and it sucked!!for me...it works much better to just taking a shower immediately after waking up,that way I don't have to worry about what I do to my hair during sleep.I wear my hair loose during sleep (the natural way)...and will continue to do so even when my hair get's long enough to be put into a ponytail.I know there are a few guys who sleep with their ponytails here, but I'm concerned that that may cause some minor damage to the hair (friction between band and hairs).
maybe you ought to consider taking showers in the morning (go to bed a little earlier and waking up earlier?) if that's an option for you.the best of luck to ya!!!

I put my hair in a loose hair tie. I use two because of my hair's length. I like thick hair ties so that my hair would not wrap around it like with thin rubber bands. With it in two loose ties, I sometimes put my hair on my chest. It is quite amusing, but I place it differently depending on how I sleep. I like it over my pillow. But based on your avatar, you can not do what I do.
I sleep with my hair free. Generally I shower every few days.
My hair doesn't get too tangled. Either it's not long enough yet, or I'm just lucky. Typically all I need to do is comb it gently and all the tangles work free with minimal effort.
I'm trying an experiment: I'm going to wash with water only. We'll see how it goes. Maybe that would help with the oily feeling when you first wake up?

i find the best way to wear your hair in bed is to pull it back as if your going to put it in a ponytail then pull it up over your head securing it with many hair clips right to the end, then i wear a silk cap that looks like a shower cap, in the morning my hair is dead straight and really shiny, all i have to do then is put it in the style i want for the day and it looks beautifull, i hope this helps.
