Hey all - I've been having problems with dandruff for the longest time - I've been using Vive for men anti-dandruff, but the stuff doesn't cut it - my scalp still gets real itchy sometimes and I hate to think I'm damaging my hair with all the scratching. Any opinions on Head and Shoulders, or any better alternative? I tried apple cider vinegar too, which is a home remedy type thing, but it didn't have any effect.
Thanks, Dave
PS - Anyone have a link to the archives, or a way to search the archives?
If what you really have is dandruff (i.e. see a doctor), then you can get prescription shampoos that are much stronger than what you can get over-the-counter. The two you mentioned both have the same concentration of pyrithione-zinc (1%), so I doubt you will see much difference.
Also according to Wikipedia's article on dandruff, you can try nizoral, or tea tree oil.
Thanks - I'll try some of that natural stuff. Prescription stuff wouldn't be for me with the possible side effects and the cost.
The natural properties you could try and I've used Head and Shoulders and that has worked a treat.

Stuff I use when I get flaky is Nutrogena T-Gel. It is a coal tar based shampoo. The smell is not unlike that of one's clothes the morning after a campfire, but it works well.
