It isn't just us guys who have to nerve ourselves up to compliment others on their hair...
The other day, there was a woman waiting for my bus at the terminal, when she got on she stammered out "You've got really nice hair" and rushed off to her seat.
...
Walking down the sidewalk last week, I got a hair compliment with my hair up in a bun!
I wish I had hair compliments from strangers... all I got was lady or something like it.
I always appreciate those words of kindness & flattery, and I usually try to remember to thank the person profusely for speaking up; but I have to admit, though, that sometimes I forget to say thanks, because I never expect the compliment when it comes! Sounds like in that woman's case, she was a bit shy about saying ANYthing to you, --- which I actually find quite endearing!
The other day a young woman with beautiful thick brunette braids past her belt-line waited on me in a frozen yogurt shop. My mom was with me; but I decided to be bold anyway, and compliment her on how great her long braids looked. I usually don't go out of my way to compliment the women, because long hair on a woman is not all that unusual; but in her case it was both unusually long AND unusually beautiful, --- and she definitely seemed to like hearing the flattery (even though I'm probably old enough to be her father)!
And this isn't the first time that my mom has been present when I couldn't help but compliment someone on their long hair, --- only this time I think she was SHOCKED that I said it to a GIRL (lol)!!
