Ok, I posted about my 'problem' a little while back.
As you can see my hair tends to curl into these ringlets/strands whatever.
Other times it hangs all together and I am very happy with it. Nearly all the progress pictures I have posted so far this 2nd time growing (except perhaps the ones from the awkward stage) have been examples of where my hair hangs together.
It's frustrating because I do all the right things (condition, deep condition once a week, use a leave-in-conditioner when I go out evey day, finger detangle daily), and none of the not-so good things (I don't blowdry, use hairspray, gell etc.)
In fact the only things I could do better I guess would be too comb my hair (yet I'm not sure this is suited to my hairtype), or use a silk pillow-cover.
But there must be something else I can do, right? Which is why I'm posting this.
Also, unlike the 1st time I grew out my hair, my hair is coming out wavy/curly, is very fine and is very prone to breakage-especially recently, with the hairs breaking off being short usually and lighter than normal.
(Ipso facto I don't think I'm balding but I do take Propecia)
I do like my pose though :-O Metal baby!
P.S. To Justin: I think you said you were going to e-mail me about this issue a while back. Did you? Because I know you said that you were going to, and you're a man of your word...so, did I miss it?
WOW you and your hair are looking Great!! Not much more I can say but GREAT!! take care!
Your hair looks normal to me. It doesn't look like you have a problem it all. Just seems natural. Looks good.
OK, what are you asking? Your hair looks excellent, although I miss the moustache and goatee. Do you not want it to go into little locks or strands? If you do decide you like them, there are plenty of ways to accentuate them. That I do know; I've learned all about that.
You will have to verify, but I don't think your hair is too wavy to brush when dry, that might be the trick to get it to hang like you want it. You'd have to be very gentle but that would give you lot of volume too. If the ends make tight rings, it might be too curly to brush though.
Another thing I do just for fun, when my hair is wet/just washed at night, I comb it, then while it is drying, shake it around and it dries all big and fluffed out. By the time I sleep on it and then put some leave-in conditioner in it the next morning, it is all tame again and makes locks again.
Any help whatsoever? HAHAHA! You probably already know all this.
G'day!
But don't give me no movember guilt...you feel me?
G'day!
Dean,
I agree with Bragi. I think brushing would help blend those end curls together. My hair does the same thing. Usually, when it's dry and has formed those little seperate end curls, a little brushing blends them into larger waves, which I like. I use a large brush with large "bristles". They are really rubber like bristles. They are soften, and they don't pull or break the hair.
Robert
Hey Dean -
Yes, I DID email you a whole lot of things to "try" weeks ago. I shall do it again tomorrow. Hmmmmmmm...........wonder whatever happened to the email?
In the meantime (at least to my eyes) your hair at present looks like Killer Hair to die for! It is truly exceptional. :-)
Till later -
Justin~
Me too! I must have missed it, although in my defence I cry University assessments!
I'm in the final 2 weeks of exams right now, so you don't have to go to the trouble of sending it to me again. If I haven't seen it, yet you sent it, it must be buried somewhere in my inbox. I really appreciate all this though.
Hey whats that supposed to mean! I have hair that only papa Justin could love?!
Just kidding, I really appreciate your truly flattering compliments as always.
In fact I'm now inspired whilst writing this response to post a picture that I like a bit better than this one.
Thanks again buddy!
Hey Dean, your hair looks good to me. Keep growing it for now, and treat it gently. I can't think of any other suggestion.
Absalom
I don't see any problems here. You have a long mane of naturally curly hair which looks great. (I'm not sure why it would have been straighter last time you grew it out) Keep it growing, it can only get better the longer it gets.
David
My hair tends to hang together, too, especially right after I wash it. Most of my photos seem to also be of it like that. However, if I comb it out with an afro pick, it will get quite bushy:
To get the waves and curls to cling together, I comb while its still wet and let it then dry that way. Once I comb my hair out while it's dry, then I'm stuck with "bushy" until I get it wet again.
"Clinging together" is my preferred look, as seems to be yours. I do enjoy "going bushy" though once in a while just for fun. I often get positive remarks about my hair when I do!
Bill
I think this may be the key to allowing me the option of having my hair 'hang together'.
The only other factor at play is what to use in combing it.
Robert's idea sounds good but then again I can imagine that type of brush getting stuck in my hair. I'll probably try it out though, but from your very helpful advice I am definitely going to be trying out an afro pic.
Thanks Bill, much appreciated!

It looks great to me! Look after it and keep growing it! It'll look even more awesomo!
Neil
Well, Dean, I have to say your mane is looking FANTASTIC! My hair is wavey (not quite as curly as yours); but essentially behaves the same way as you describe.
I can't say I necessarily have any suggestions... well, other than: I miss seing that dashing-looking mustache of yours!!
- Ken
Thank you very much Ken!
To have my facial hair described as 'dashing' is a big compliment for me as that was the way I preferred to regard it when quite a few others said it made me look older, my nose bigger, dirty, didn't suit me etc. (not including the many wonderful people on our board who made positive comments though!)
But I kept it for nearly 2 and a half years straight.
Why? Well apart from the fact that I personally liked it very much and was sick of being clean-shaven, I used it as DISTRACTION.
I was growing my hair out the 2nd time and to distract my mom from this I grew out the facial hair for the first time.
As I had expected, for the 1st 2 years of growing my hair again, the predominant comments from my mother was 'shave off that moustache, it doesnt suit you.'It proved an excellent distractor from my ever lengthening hair!
In fact I recently had a moustache 'revival' in that I didn't shave there for a month-it felt good to have the ol gal around again. (I was surprised by how quick it grew)
So, I'm clean-shaven for now, but the moustache will return!
(I just wish that I could grow a full beard. My dad has had one since 19, but I still have 2 or 3 big patches-D'oh!)
Thanks again Ken.
