This weekend I'm going to meet up with some friends and go watch Borat. Has anyone seen this movie yet? If so, was it any good? PLEASE, NO SPOILERS!!! =P I know it's getting really good reviews, and the videos I have seen on youtube.com of Borat have been very funny. It seems that everyone has a pretty strong opinion of this character. They either love him or hate him. A lot of people get offended by his comedy, but I love comedians who push the boundaries like that. I was just curious about what the people here thought of him. Good day, all!!
Borat was the funniest movie I've seen in my entire life. I was laughing so hard I almost couldn't breathe.

I haven't seen it yet, but I plan to this weekend. It was only playing in one theater this weekend (Baton Rouge sucks), and it was sold out when I went to go see it. However, I have been hearing it is UNBELIEVEABLY funny! I am soooo glad there's finally a movie that is saying a big screw you to political correctness... that't not to say I'm totally against political correctness, I just think people have been taking it too far lately. Anyways, I can't wait to see it!
High Five!
And live long US and A!
Borat is AWESOME BEYOND WORDS!!I've looked at several of his videos on youtube too :P. especially the "dating service" video...and the song that goes like "in my country there is problem...and that problem is transport...through the jew down the well...so my country can be free.." LMFAO!!!
Sure thing if you like Sacha Baron Cohen and I wasn't impressed when he had a TV series over here on Channel 4 called "Ali G" and that was bad enough.

have not seen it but it sounds like a ripoff of Yakof Smirnoff's schtick and Steve Martin and Dan Ackroyd's "Swinging guys from Czechoslovakia" sketches on Saturday Night Live. I've also read that in the course of filming this picture he's destroyed people's careers--people have lost their jobs because he tricked them into interviewing him for local tv shows. he doesn't sound like a nice guy to me. that kind of comedy has a limited endurance. In a few years he'll be forgotten just like Yakoff Smirnoff.
what sort of people have lost their jobs that he interviewed? the really racist right wing people?
letter in Time last week that a guy in jackson miss. who used to be a tv news producer for one of the stations there got suckered into interviewing this guy at the tv station and the borat dude started goofing on him etc., all the stuff he does, made the whole show look ridiculous, the producer got fired but eventually wound up answering the phone at some gulf coast station about 6 months later. went broke, filed for bankruptcy, and there's supposed to be more stories like his.
oh fair enough then...i hadn't heard about that.
yes but keep in mind i have not seen the move and i might think it is hillarious. humor is an unpredictable thing. there are things i think are funny that other people think are sick. have you ever been in a theater and laughed at something and had people look at you like you are some kind of freak? that's been my experience before.
Borat was the first movie i have seen since the summer of 2005 and i've got to say it's THE funniest movie i've EVER seen in my life! Alot of the movie had to be done in one take as some of the people did'nt know they were on camera (not actors)....this made it even funnier
Seriously this movie was funny as hell. I don't think I have laughed so hard for a movie before.
Never stopped laughing thru the whole movie. If you like sick, twisted humour you will love Borat.
I can't wait to see it now =)
I saw it the day it relased I think nov 3 .... its just tooooooooo good and funny. You wont stop laughing a second. Few scenes are awful but as a whole the movie is nice.
Anyone who hasn't seen the movie may not want to read what I say. I'm not going to spoil anything (even though they show 95% of the jokes in the previews), but I don't want to discourage anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
Anyways, I just saw Borat last night, and honestly I wasn't too impressed. Now don't start with the stuff about how I probably "didn't get it" or whatever, I definitely got it. I just didn't really think it was the funniest movie ever, like everyone is saying. I think the problem is that there really was no difference between the movie and the show. I've seen a ton of the episodes (the skits during Ali G), and those were great, but the movie is EXACTLY like those. If you haven't seen the skits, you may find the movie funnier than I did. But with having seen so many episodes and the fact that the previews showed almost EVERY funny joke (except for the naked scene, which was definitely hilarious), I just felt like I was watching a movie that I had already seen. That's really it. Borat is a really funny character, but do you remember how Napolean Dynamite got after EVERYONE and their mother started quoting it before you got to see it? It's kind of like that. I'd definitely say see it and see for yourself. Maybe I'm just jaded because I've seen so many Borat episodes and it's nothing new to me. Let me know what you all think :).
