This may be of interest to some. I created a page where I put side by side comparison pictures from the last three years. I did them for January/April/July/October for 2004/2005/2006.
I enjoy watching month by month progress but sometimes it's easy to forget how far one has come. By placing the pictures year by year next to each other, the difference is much more dramatic. The chart also enables one to gauge the differences three month intervals make during each year.
I selected two pictures from each month and tried to get poses that were relatively close to the same - a side shot and a back shot. I'll update this page every three months. It should be interesting to see how it looks by the end of 2008 when five years are complete. Hopefully the growth will continue in a linear fashion. Conversely, this should allow me to ascertain if my growth is slowing which could indicate I'm nearing terminal.

Hey Jason
What a great idea! It is one thing to "try and remember." But it is far better actually seeing the results.......and what a dramatic difference in those years. Just astounding! Thanks so much for sharing the comparisons with all of us. I true incentive for those in the earlier stages of growing their hair long.

Hi Jason,
Great idea! It's great to see your progress in a nutshell and see how fast your hair grows. (If only an old guy like me could grow it that fast!} Looking forward to seeing your hair at the 5 year mark in 2009. (I predict you'll reach waist length before then.)
David
That's really awesome! The January photos are so drastic and definitive. In fact, I was just about to post some updates to my site as well. =)

my site
Jason,
Your hair just keeps getting better and better the longer and longer it grows.
The braided half-tail is really AWESOME!!!
Karsten
A fascinating history and it certainly shows how long hair suits you perfectly - and the awesome hair that you have as well.
Hi Jason,
this is a great comparison - the January 2004 picture looks like a different person, not the real you. It's more clear than ever that only now that you truely look the person you are meant to be. What a great, happy, and satisfying story!
It goes well with the story that is mentioned by Fellow, a computer scientist from France (see his post below) - he included a link to the Stanford 2005 commencement address by Steve Jobbs. Jobbs presents some important ideas, some of which we seem to symbolize by growing our hair long.
Happy growth, and, all the best!
Hans-Uwe
Hi Hans-Uwe,
Thanks for pointing me to that link. What a great speech! I especially enjoyed the points about not trying to live someone else's life. I tried that for a long time and it's not satisfying. Even though I feel my life is wide open right now and could use more direction, at least becoming a longhair at last is a very important step. As with all 'born longhairs', I view that as a platform from which all other successful roads will lead.
I shudder when I look at those January 2004 pictures. That was a very dark time in my life.
Jason
Through all your ups and downs you have been blessed with some of
the thickest, fastest growing, most awesome hair I've seen.
Your hair is cool and I'm jealous!
Hey Jason,
I think the way you have documented your hair's progress is absolutley fantastic. I wish I had done something similar to document my hairs growth. Like you say, I reckon that part of your site will be amazing once you get to 2008.
Keep it up!
Neil
this is pretty interesting; thanks for doing this. your hair seems to grow kind of fast. it was cool to be able to compare the different years and months. i see you had a brief experience with the wing flips at the ends.
BOY BECOMES MAN!
I like october 2006 the best. You look great with longer hair.
Talk about a difference! Thi is actually quite the inspiration for me, as I'm about to hit the awkward stage. The pictures are proof that you can reap rewards by being patient!
Thanks for sharing that with us.
great idea!!by looking back at older pics and looking at the dramatic progress, you actually see the results of your patient wait and stay motivated for future growth!!
Amazing transformation! Great series of pics! Amazing!
Congratulations!
