Hey, I am wondering for Asian hair is conditioner optional? I have been without conditioner for a while (I didn't want to pay extra for it... sorry for being cheap but my job only pays 90NT an hour and I gotta be very frugal) and I haven't have problem with hair being too dry. In fact my hair is mostly oily and if I dont wash everyday then my hair would be so oily that it feels really bad. Taiwan heat doesnt help either...
It really depends. But I would say, generally, there's a need to. The reason why asian hair could sometimes do without a conditioner is due to the fact that our hair is usually thicker, and straighter. The function of a conditioner is to thicken and straighten the hair, via the application of "silicones" (although there are silicone free conditioners too), which was stripped down by the detergent in the shampoo. This process is typically known as "nourishing" or "moisturising".
I should say, for the hair like yours, you could basically do without a conditioner. But you may wish to consider conditioning your hair occasionally to maintain its resiliency from the harsh detergent chemicals of your shampoo. A good guide will be condition once for every 3 to 5 shampoos.
Hope this helps.
