I'm Mike from the UK. I had a buzzcut a or so month ago. It's about 1inch and a half long now.
I want to go for a ponytail. I have a few questions..
How long will it take to get a decent ponytail?
&, Is there anything I should know about growing out my hair? What do I need to do right?
Is it ok to wear a baseball cap while it growing out or will that make it grow slower???

wow!! an inch in only just one month?that's pretty fast!!the average person grows hair at about a rate of half an inch per month...so that being said..according to my calculations...you should be able to wear a (high) ponytail at about 9-10 months in...as far as the cap goes...it really depends upon how unruly your hair gets and how self-conscious you are about it...some say that wearing caps is bad cause they give you "hat hair", but I think the hat hair will only stay for as long as you're wearing the cap..hope this helps :)

ok,for starters,you'll find out that as your hair get's longer,you'll need less and less shampooing...and conditioning will become more and more important.also,you might wanna stay away from things like straightening irons and dyes,since these things damage hair!!oh...and one more thing...you might wanna go to "links" and read the article "on being a longhair" by Bill choisser...there is a ton of useful info for you to get started...take care!!
Hello mate, welcome to the board. it took a very long time for me to be able to tie my hair into a decent ponytail, perhaps about 18 months maybe more, although my hair was extremely curly when shorter . If its straight then obviously it'll be much sooner. As for the hat, it won't slow the growth. I wore hats but don't like baseball caps, i went for festival style bucket hats!
That depends on the team. You'll get better growth under a Red Sox cap than under a Yankees cap. [wink] Just look at Johnny Damon.
