I have quite a few brushes that I use/will use when my hair gets longer. I dont know to much about the different styles of brushes, or how to describe them, so I included a picture. I was hoping you all could help me with some info, which brush is good or bad, which one(s) to use ect...
So, heres the picture of the 4 different brushes I currently have in my collection.
Since I dont know what each one is called, I numbered them for easier reference.
Thank you all!
Never used anything like #1 or #3. I have something similar to #2 that I will use SOMETIMES when my hair is wet. Then I have something similar to #4, except it's bigger. I use that when my hair is dry.
I would start with #4 and work backwards. As for #1 we can sing along with Queen:
Another one bites the dust

I'd say #2 is your best option. Should be less damaging then a brush. I have a similar wide toothed comb that I use to put my hair back when I get out of the shower. 'sept teeth are different sizes, forming an ergonomical curve.
#2 looks like a pretty safe bet.
#1 I think would be good if you use oils and such in your hair, but don't quote me on that.
The others like fairly "meh" to me, but then again I don't use a brush. :)
I like 2 and if it were in better shape, 1. The problem with the others is that the bristles are real thin and wirey, and I think they'd snag in tangles and rip them too easily. what's good about 1 is that the bristles are thick and far apart. a brush like that is more likely to do what you want with less damage. that's why 2, which is a comb, is better, because the teeth are thick. 3, the round one (or cylindrical one) is good in terms of its design because it can be used for styling, such as getting rid of flips, but that particular one has those thin wire bristles. Look for a brush like that, that has thicker plastic bristles.
I'd go with #1, but larger and with all the bristles. Take a critical look at #2's and #3's construction - see how it's a two-piece design with the handle being a separate piece? I've broken at least 3 brushes right there. #4 looks promising as a portable brush you can take with you to help you with the awkward stage.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Im going to continue using the large comb. 3 is out, I think, because it looks scary with all those tiny bristles, easier to cause breakage with. 4 is definatly handy for brushing "on the go". 1 is my favorite old brush, I got it years ago at a Goodwill. Cheap, Wooden, and nice. Unfortunatly, the younger siblings got ahold of it, and used it to comb rat-nests out of thier Barbies blonde hair. Thats why some of the bristles are missing. Im going to start looking for another one similar to it.
Thank you all again for having input, it has been most helpful!
