Well this is pictures taken along the danshui river in taipei area... I cant call this a real vacation because I mean.... this is just 5 minute walk away.
This is some kind of bird.... dont know what it is
This is one of the ferry that takes you to the "other side".... whatever that might be (depends on one's perspective)
This is a building on the "other side"
Look at the English name for various places... one of them is called FUYOU temple!
Anyone like to watch "Baywatch"?
I don't know what this is, it connects to a carriage that goes in to the water, I guess for launching boats?
I think this is a riverwalk that was built during the Ching Dynasty... at least according to the sign at the location. Its inside a military compound so I can't get in...
Another view... this thing looks somewhat eroded
Another view
This thing looks like a battleship... anyone know what type?
Area off limits
Some cats... for some reason cats are scared of people, even some pet cats are scared of people... I don't suppose people eat cats for lunch here.
meow....
Great vacation pictures. The weather seemed pretty crappy that day, it seemed like a rainy day.
It wasn't raining... it was kinda cloudy but wont rain for some weird reason.
Street Scene from Montréal
Hello Tai Fu,
Thank you for sharing the pictures of your city, and waterfront. The bird, seems to be an Ibis, which is a bird commonly seen in Egyptian Hieroglyphs.
I hope you can post more of the downtown area, the subway, the busses. There are certain cities in North America where a good part of "tourist" dollars come from locals. Where I live, the Jazz Festival attracts a good number of tourists, but a huge number of atendees are locals.
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal
I might do that some day... We got the world's tallest building (for now) but the downtown area isn't all that. Its better though because like 10 years ago Taipei was a garbage dump, people dump whatever they want onto the street with no regard for anything. The subway is alot cleaner than NYC though.... and for now there isn't too many station so its not easy to get lost.
aha...intriguing photos!!I like the bird inthe first pic...and I have one question for ya:what's that statue-ish figure in the second pic? :P
Good question.... I havent been to the "other side" so I cant say...
Thanks for sharing those fascinating photos.....As this is a truly International Community, I love to see our members show a bit of where they are from.
And certainly, anytime you take time to enjoy yourself can be considered a "vacation". Here is a place also a five minute walk from my home......Hee, I TOLD you I have dry hair !! HA!

Is this in AZ or NV? last time I went to Las Vegas my lips chapped like crazy cause I was so used to living in very humid places (like Texas or Taiwan... both is very humid)
Is this in AZ or NV? last time I went to Las Vegas my lips.
This is the Nevada side of Death Valley about 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas....beautiful place to live !!
Walter; I thought you were a West Texas guy from your previous posts.
George
GASP !!.......
That, my friend, is a matter of opinion, LOL
For my last duty station they wanted to send me to NAS China Lake. I told the detailer there was no way I was gonna spend the last three years of my *Navy* career living down the road from Death Valley. Somehow seemed like a contradiction in terms to me.

Awesome! I want to go dune surfing. Can you do that? Or maybe dune skiing?
Cool pics both of you guys. Here's a couple of pics from my neck of the wood:
All the pics are taken from right outside my house.
I wish I could see an expanse of countryside like this again... you dont see any amount of open land in Taiwan because it's so developed you see a building or 2 in places even in rural areas, and rural area in Taiwan sucked because there are factory everywhere (like South Taiwan). The uninhabited places in Taiwan are usually mountains. But there are good beautiful places in Taiwan as well like Taiko Gorge (I need to go there sometimes... just dont have time to), so I guess there are good and bad of everything... I really do miss Texas though, I grew up there.
Here's a photo, Walter, of me by a lake that sits in both my state and yours.
Awesome dunes photo in your post!
Looking forward to looking you up next time I'm down your way. Happens every couple of years or so.
