She said I have dandruff and prescribed me some shampoo. Also said that is what is making excess hair to shed. I heard that dandruff shampoo is really hard on hair. I guess I'll try it but I don't know if that is the problem
Hey Sean. I had a dandruff problem three years ago. My doctor prescribed some dandruff shampoo as well. It is some harsh stuff man. I then decided not to use it anymore. My grandmother told me to use tea tree oil and tea tree shampoo. Let me tell you, It works miracles. I recommend you try using tea tree oil and tea tree shampoo. It is healthier for the hair. Tea tree oil is what got rid of the dandruff on my scalp. Hope this helps. Don't let dandruff stop you. Keep your hair growing. anti-dandruff shampoo is harsh, that's true. I'd think it's probably nevertheless right to use it a number of times until you notice that your hair starts getting dry. By its aggressiveness, it takes out quite a bit of the dead flakes etc. Once it gets better (which shouldn't take long), you change to something else. - Or, you continue to use it every four weeks (followed by a good leave-in conditioner), once the dandruff is under control.
I'm not a dermatologist, but I hope this helps anyway.

dandruff causes excess shedding?hmmm...I'm a little skeptical here...
I highly doubt dandruff will cause excess shedding of hair.
Well the thing is, is that I constantly scratch my hair since its been itching like hell for the past 2 months. Also something to think about is that the areas that get scratched the most shed the most hair.
She said I have seborrhea and I'm supposed to use loprox ($35 for 6 onces) 3 times a week. I used it for the first time today. She said my hair should stop falling out immeditaly and then new hair will grow back within 3 months. I don't know how this is going to effect the look of my hair down the road, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
